The first Tuesday of every month we pack senior boxes.  These are food commodities distributed to our low income seniors throughout central SD.  We are in need of 20-30 volunteers for this project.

Whether you've been care giving for years or just starting out, support groups offer an opportunity to learn, share your knowledge, and plan for the future. We hope you will join us as we provide support to one another through the various stages of dementia and Alzheimer's disease.

Quillwork at Family Fun Saturday September 7 Visitors will have the opportunity to create their own "quillwork" piece using colored toothpicks at Family Fun Saturday September 7 at the Cultural Heritage Center in Pierre. The free program runs from 10-11:30 a.m. All supplies are provided, and children must be accompanied by an adult. Admission to the museum gallery is also free during program hours.

In conjunction with the September premiere of Ken Burns' Country Music documentary series, South Dakota Public Broadcasting and the National Music Museum (NMM) in Vermillion are partnering to showcase South Dakota's own rich heritage and connections to country music. Storied instruments once owned and played by Johnny Cash, June Carter Cash, Marty Stuart and Earl Scruggs emerge from the National Music Museum's unrivaled collection to be played by some of South Dakota's finest country music musicians.

The Imagine This! Tour of Homes is BACK!

The Imagine This! Tour is an on-site tour of five homes in various stages of development. 

The purchase of your ticket includes the transportation to each location, appetizers and beverages at each house. Tours last 45 minutes per house, giving you the chance to socialize with the homeowners, developers, craftsman, designers, service professionals and more who contributed to the home. Ask any questions you may have about your future project needs, wants or ideas!

Whether you are looking for specific work to be done in your household, dreaming of what could-be, or just want to spend an afternoon looking at unique homes - join us on the Imagine This! Tour of Homes on Saturday, September 7th!

The 6th annual Pie Social fundraiser will be held at the Oahe Chapel on Sunday, Sept. 8. A live concert will begin at 2:00 featuring Ron Smith (piano) and Lori Hall (bells). Come join us for an afternoon of pie, ice cream, music and lawn games! The event is free and open to the public. Freewill donations will be accepted to help maintain the chapel.

Pierre's own Bill Markley will tell about his latest book, "Wyatt Earp and Bat Masterson: Lawmen of the Legendary West." Markley traces the friendship of the two near-mythic figures and debates who was the great lawman. Copies of the book are sold at the Heritage Store at the Cultural Heritage Center. Everyone is welcome at the free program.

Join Avera St. Mary's Foundation for the Walk of Hope on Saturday, September 14 at the Capitol Lake Visitors Center in Pierre, SD! Check-in begins at 8:15AM, with the walk starting at 9:00AM. 

All proceeds support regional mental health awareness and suicide prevention. Remembrance Ceremony will take place immediately after the walk.

The Rally for Robert is a 138 mile Rods & Rides dice run including motorcyclists and the Street Masters Car Club. Registration is at 11:00 a.m. on Sept. 14 and the ride starts at noon. $20 per hand. Meal, 50/50 drawing, quilt raffle, and silent auction to follow. All proceeds go to the Pennies for Robert cancer travel fund.
