Disaster Recovery: New opportunities to help!

The disaster recovery from Hurricane Helene is entering some new phases and we could use some help from across the Presbytery.

Could you:

  • Help us maintain the tool trailer inventory? Once a month check the inventory of the tool trailer (based on Sardis Rd in Asheville), purchase additional tools or replacement items (e.g. paint brushes, saw blades etc) using Lowes gift cards, and occasionally retrieve a tool from a work site left by volunteers?
  • Sit on a monthly call on any of these Long Term Recovery Group calls and then join a PWNC call once a month to share what you learn? Henderson, Madison, Haywood, Yancey, Mitchell, McDowell?
  • Occasionally teach volunteers how to safely use a portable table saw, drill holes/drive wood screws, and then assemble projects like outdoor seating, picnic tables, neighborhood pantry boxes?

Thank you! More details can be found at https://www.pwnc-recovery.org/ or email Anne Waple at awaple@presbyterywnc.org.

In case you missed it...

A couple of days ago we sent out the Presbytery in Brief and the Resolution of Thanks from last week's Presbytery meeting in Montreat. You can find both by following this link.

Tour of campus highlights of Earth Care Sunday

On Earth Care Sunday, April 19, Brevard-Davidson River Presbyterian celebrated the congregation's dedication to caring for its little part of the Earth. After the 11 a.m. service, a group endured the windy, cold day to tour the grounds, which turned into about an hour-long question-and-answer period regarding the many ways B-DRPC chooses plants and trees that help the local wildlife.

Members John and Louise Stroup led the tour and explained to the group that the church works diligently to make the grounds pleasing to our members and to the public. Louise said that she sees B-DRPC as the "Front Porch to Main Street, Brevard." The church grounds provide wildlife habitation, food, shelter, water, and a place to raise the young of many wildlife species.

Brevard-Davidson River is an Earth Care Congregation and, more recently, a Certified Wildlife Habitat. A tip of the hat to the many members who contribute in different ways to make the church property beautiful!
