What is SIP?

You may have heard the term SIP communications but what does it really stand for and why does DICE use it as part of Matrix?

SIP stands for Session Initiation Protocol. It is a communication protocol used to support multimedia services such as voice calls, video chat/conferencing and instant messaging over the Internet. SIP is one of the key enablers of Voice over IP (VOIP) and it offers a new generation of communication services across the Internet, as well as over fixed and mobile IP networks.

Its primary benefit is the fact that it provides a direct connection between private or local telephone systems (private branch exchanges, also known as PBX) and the public telephone network. This way, both businesses and individuals won't need a legacy telephone line in order to connect. That is why Matrix uses SIP communication for click to call, voice down and our video services.

IN fact, dDid you know that DICE provides a PBX system using SIP technology at no charge with Matrix?

The Matrix Interactive Difference

The Error Reduction Management System

Have you had a problem at a site but weren't sure if it was an installation issue or a carrier issue? Here is another unique and very important solution from DICE that provides the solution for central stations and dealers:

Our Error Reduction Management System helps dealers fix and manage their installations. Many dealers and central stations are already using it to help trouble shoot dealer issues. It also helps to point out which clients have switched from POTS to cable carriers.

The first page shows subscribers sites that have communication errors with the DICE receiver farm. It also shows the carrier of the subscriber who is providing service to the dealer’s customer. This also shows the Central office that the telecom is connected to at the last mile.

The second page shows all of the industry’s alarm companies that use that central office. It also indcates how many successful calls have made to the receivers and how many have not been successful. This information will help dealers to know whether it is a site issue or a carrier issue.

Many say that communication issues are a telecom issue or it is because POTS is sunsetting. This isn’t the case, POTS is not sunsetting, in fact it's growing by cable operators and carriers. The new VoIP services are simply IP transmissions with voice. We will have an article that further explains this very soon.

The IPtelX Advantage

Keeping You Connected with the Smartest Telecom Solutions

Alarm signals are complex and require the clearest carrier route for error-free delivery, but many telecom providers who say they can deliver error-free signals are unable to meet their customer’s needs.

Most monitoring stations are unaware they are not receiving signals. With unreliability driving subscribers to choose do-it-yourself alternatives and the health and wellbeing of the alarm industry uncertain, many are searching for cost-effective, proven solutions.

IPtelX: Delivering clean communications

As the alarm industry transitions from analog to VoIP-based technology, alarm monitoring centers are noticing an influx of unreliable signals from carriers who don’t understand alarm signaling. When a subscriber and central station use different telecom carriers, the alarm signal might not be peered directly to the central station’s telecom, resulting in the signal being compressed and modified by an aggregator who acts as a middleman in the process.

With the IPtelX alarm signal network, there is no go-between. We’re peered with almost every subscriber’s carrier, obtaining the signal from the source as soon as it reaches the central station. This guarantees the highest-quality transmissions possible.

Give us a call. IPtelX will help you understand the options and help you make the right decision for your company.
