Artificial Intelligence (AI) has become a buzzword today, but it means very different things to different people and industries. Those not from our industry think of AI as Chat GPT.
For many in the security industry, AI means object detection, facial recognition, loitering, and many other types of video analytics. But in fact, it is way more than that.
DICE 2030 and Artificial Intelligence
But more changes are coming. I have shared about DICE 2030 and our vision for the fuure. This is big part of that vision.
DICE was the first to provide the industry with a cloud solution, geographical redundancy, and disaster recovery. Now we are leading in providing central stations with Artificial Intelligence, it is called generative AI/Machine Learning. This is now in development.
Generative artificial intelligence is artificial intelligence capable of generating text, images, or other media in response to prompts. It promises to deliver better recommendations and more relevant results.
Generative AI lnguages learn the patterns and structure of their input training data by applying neural network machine learning techniques, and then generate new data that has similar characteristics.
There are new types of chips being developed that in the next couple of years will affect not only our industry, but almost every part of our lives. This is the reason that all the large companies including Facebook, Google, Amazon, and others are investing billions of dollars in the development of AI technologies. This will change the world and it’s already happening.
AI, Monitoring Centers, and the Future
Let me now share my vision of how AI will affect and change central stations. In future columns, we will delve into how it will affect integrators and end users.
As we know today, dispatchers handle signals ranging from alarm, video, access control, PERS and much more.
The Quantum Dispatcher and Live Operators
When it comes to AI, the question is what is the difference between a person and a smart machine? A person can observe things, talk to customers, make decisions based on what they understand, follow processes, and then take action.
The new AI that is coming, and that DICE is developing, will change the industry. We call it a quantum dispatcher or operator, which will be able to do most of what a human dispatcher can do now.
How? The quantum operator will "sit" side by side with human operators, learn, and then be capable of doing everything that the live operator can do. That is what I shared before, which is called, neural network machine learning.
Now, imagine that you take not one quantum operator connected to one human operator, but 100, 1,000, or even 10,000. You now have a new level of quantum operator across the board that have the knowledge of many human operators.
A New Generation of Monitoring
The result of what I just described is that we will have a new generation of smart AI quantum machine operators to do what human operators can do today. Many of the activities that operators are doing today, will be done in the future by these quantum operators, which will free up a lot of time for human operators to handle other more important tasks.
Human interaction will be on different level and the job description of what operator is doing will change. The quantum operator and the live operator will work together as a team.
Is it the Quantum Dispatcher or the Human?
With the development of generative AI technologies, we're looking at the capability of the quantum operator to talk, to listen, to have the right accents, and to even have a sense of humor. In fact, you will find it hard to know whether you are talking with a machine or a person.
We already have some of the pieces to this puzzle available and more will be released during 2024. I'm inviting companies to connect with us and be part of this journey to the future.
