My vision for what I call the new alarm industry is to have video cameras as sensors, complete with video zones and video panels that can now be armed and disarmed by the end user - just like an intrusion system.
That means we do not always need to connect a camera to an alarm intrusion device or a video analytic trigger to receive video verification in the central station as has been the norm.
As everything is currently on the network and can communicate through the Internet, there are now new options. Why can’t a camera send a signal to the central station for monitoring when triggered without necessarily being tied to an intrusion device? This now opens a world of possibilities, new services, and increased RMR.
Check out the article below, "Bridging Current Alarm Monitoring Infrastructure with Traditional Video" that will provide a bit more insight.
The new video alarm industry is all about cameras as sensors, that utilizes the central station’s infrastructure with its core business model. Because of this, my vision for the new alarm industry takes advantage of a model that central stations and dealers are familiar with and brings us into the future, opening new opportunities and possibilities.
