Tis The Season For Giving

As we move into the new year, we’re grateful to share an exciting update on our 2024 Holiday Appeal. Thanks to incredible community generosity and the support of our matching sponsor, we met our $20,000 gift match goal earlier than expected!

While this is a wonderful milestone, our fundraising efforts continue so we can ensure no one in our community is left without the care and support they deserve

Funds raised through this Appeal will directly support Community Care’s Subsidy Program and Volunteer Services. As our population continues to grow and age, the demand for our services and the volunteers who help deliver them is rising. Subsidies ensure local residents can access compassionate care without financial barriers, while volunteer support helps keep program costs low and services accessible.

We invite you to continue supporting this important work as we move into the year ahead.

Some Third-Party Fundraising Stories:

Burns Bulk Food "Mix of the Month" Was A Scary Good Hit!

Community Care was thrilled to be chosen as the recipient of Burns Bulk Food October Mix of the Month fundraiser!

This year’s Ghoulish Gummy Goodness for a Cause was a frightfully fun hit — so much so that all 100 bags SOLD OUT in a record 11 days! Thanks to this incredible community support, we were proudly presented with a $500 cheque from Burns.

A huge thank-you to Burns Bulk Foods for their generosity, and to everyone who purchased a bag and helped make this fundraiser such a sweet success!

Kawartha Concert Band Raises More Than $1,000 for Meals on Wheels

On December 13th, 2025 the Kawartha Lakes Concert Band held their holiday concert, "A Winter's Dawn", and it was delightful. Such talent and passion here in our local community.

It was a double bonus for Community Care who received proceeds from their ticket sales. The band raised $1,050 to support our Meals on Wheels Program. We are so grateful for their generous donation.

Make sure you mark Saturday May 30th 2026 on your calendar to experience their spring performance "The Maple Leaf Forever" where they will be featuring Canadian composers.

Lindsay Wholesale Club - "Give a Little, Help a Lot" Campaign

For the second year in a row, Community Care Foundation was presented with a generous donation from Wholesale Club Lindsay through their "Give a Little, Help a Lot" fundraiser. For approximately two weeks the team kindly asked for donations from customers at the check out. Their efforts raised a whooping $1420; which will help make sure Community Care can continue to provide programs and services at a low cost or free to friends and neighbours in The City of Kawartha Lakes.

Thank you Wholesale Club Lindsay for your continued support of Community Care and all that we do!

A Meaningful Milestone: Turning 65 with Generosity

Kathleen P. made her 65th birthday unforgettable by dedicating it to a cause close to her heart. By asking guests to donate to Community Care Hospice Services instead of bringing gifts, she raised more than $230 to support compassionate care in our community.

If you have a birthday, anniversary, or celebration coming up, consider joining Kathleen in turning your moment of joy into support for those who need it most.

Some Event Highlights:

November 23rd: Merry Movie & Magical Moments

We kicked off the holiday season with laughter, joy, and festive cheer at our Merry Movie & Magical Moments fundraiser on November 23, 2025, at Century Cinema 3 in downtown Lindsay.

The community came together for a heartwarming afternoon watching the beloved holiday classic Elf, starring Will Ferrell. The theatre was filled with families, friends, and neighbours enjoying the start of the season — and the energy, smiles, and holiday spirit were felt throughout the entire event.

Thanks to the incredible support from everyone who sponsored and attended, over $5,000 was raised for our Subsidy Program. These funds help ensure that essential Community Care services remain accessible to individuals in the City of Kawartha Lakes who may otherwise face financial barriers.

From the popcorn to the laughter, and all the magical moments in between, it was a wonderful way to begin the holiday season. Thank you to everyone who joined us and made the event such a success.

A special thank you to our presenting sponsor Mariposa Dairy!

Celebrating Our Donor Community:

Donor Appreciation Events

This quarter, we were proud to host two special donor appreciation events. Meaningful gatherings that allowed us to express our gratitude to the individuals, businesses, and community groups who help strengthen Community Care’s programs year-round.

On September 10th, we welcomed individual donors recognized on our Donor Recognition Tree for a warm and heartfelt celebration. Guests had the chance to connect with one another, hear updates on the impact of their support, and see firsthand how their contributions continue to make a difference in the lives of local residents.

Then, on November 5th, we were delighted to host our appreciation event for local businesses and community clubs. These organizations play a vital role in sustaining our programs, and the gathering gave us an opportunity to thank them for their ongoing partnership and commitment.

Both events served as important reminders of the generous community that stands behind Community Care. To everyone who attended - and to all who support us throughout the year - thank you. Your contributions truly help us make a lasting impact.
