Legacy Art Santa Barbara starts off 2024 with a special art collection feature for the first and limited time only! They will be showcasing the rare and unique personal collection and Legacy of their in-house artists, the Barrymore’s, consisting of eclectic paintings and one-of-a-kind sculptures from 5 – 7:30pm.


They will also host a 1st Thursday “After Hours” event featuring live music with food and drinks from 7:30 – 9pm with amazing artist Jimmi wZ hailing from the Music recording Mecca of Muscle Shoals Alabama. James Wisniewski is a multi instrumentalist specializing on flute that has studied performed and recorded with master musicians around the globe together with award-winning composer, multi-instrumentalist and singer, Crispin Barrymore. Donations welcome.

Spanish Conversation Meet Up

Come hang at the back patio tables of M. Special on State Street to practice Spanish, meet new people, and have fun!

UCSB History Associates presents, “Beyond Bookselling: How Queer Bookstores Shaped the Gay Liberation Movement,” with doctoral candidate Sarah Dunne in partnership with the Santa Barbara Public Library. This event is free and open to the public.


Sarah Dunne is a doctoral candidate in the history department at UC Santa Barbara. She was awarded a UCSB Graduate Humanities Research Fellowship and is also serving as a 2023-2024 Mendell Graduate Fellow at UCSB’s Walter H. Capps Center. She is spending this academic year conducting archival research for her dissertation: The Migrating Queer Bookshelf: Queer Bookstores and the Making of Queer Communities in the United States and Canada, 1945-present.
