MOXI Reopening to Public on Thursday, November 12

MOXI will reopen on Thursday, November 12 following a nearly 8-month long closure due to the coronavirus pandemic. Pianos on State
Pianos on State has been enlivening Santa Barbara’s downtown for eleven years now, spontaneously reintroducing music and art into people’s everyday lives. While the safety considerations that COVID-19 asks of all of us mean that this year Pianos on State will need to be experienced differently, the need for music and art and enlivenment are needed now more than ever.

This year, painted pianos will be transported to beloved performing arts venues the Loberothe Santa Barbara Bowl, the Marjorie Luke TheatreSOHO, and Center Stage Theater to be featured in virtual concerts. Pianos will be painted gorgeously at the Community Arts Workshop by local artists, as always, with thorough COVID safety measures. There will also be a livestream from the CAW with local musicians and community members.
Illuminate Speaker Series presents a FREE virtual series of speakers who address aspects of the COVID-19 pandemic and to offer help to individuals and families that are struggling to understand their place in this new reality. An UNcommonplace American Town - An Afternoon with Sheila Lodge
Sheila Lodge will discuss her forthcoming book about how Santa Barbara became the community that it is through planning. She will describe the many battles it sometimes took and the process that was developed to make the critical decisions. Because of her personal involvement in the struggles, her book is partially a memoir.
