SUMMER SOLSTICE CELEBRATION – GETS CREATIVE FOR JUNE FESTIVITIES

Have your Business Featured in the Solstice Blooming Art Guide in the Month of June

In lieu of this year’s annual Summer Solstice parade and festival a special “Blooming Art Gardens Guide” highlighting all the decorated homes, businesses, and the locations of the Solstice art installations is under development.

To have your business featured, get assistance with decorating from local volunteers and artists, email Jinny at media@solsticeparade.com

Deadline to be included in their Blooming Gardens Guide (for free, though sponsorship is welcome) is May 28.

Long time Solstice Artist Claudia Bratton has created a bright and beautiful display at her house on Bath Street, with the help of Solstice Artist Carlos Cuellar, as our first Blooming Garden art installation. Claudia’s home has bloomed early as a demonstration of what a Blooming Garden decorated house can look like! Walk by her home at 1128 Bath Street to see our first Solstice Bloom!

These Blooming Garden art installations will be popping up around town come June, so keep an eye out for all of our colorful blooms. Learn more at: https://www.solsticeparade.com/blooming-gardens-guide

Your business can also be featured in the Virtual State Street Parade May 20, 21, 22 and June 4 & 5. Learn more and schedule your appointment to be filmed at the link below.
The Arlington Theatre's 90th Anniversary Celebration!

Metropolitan Theatres’ historic Arlington Theatre is celebrating its 90th Anniversary. To commemorate the occasion, the theatre will reopen with a 3-day event on May 21, 22 and 23, 2021.

Three classic films, E.T., Ghostbusters, and Blade Runner the Final Cut, will be shown daily. All tickets are $5 and are on-sale now at MetroTheatres.com and on the Metropolitan Theatres mobile app. Guests will receive a free popcorn with ticket purchase. Daily showtimes are 2:30pm, 5:15pm and 8pm.

Kicking off the day’s events on Saturday, May 22 at 12:30pm will be a free live performance featuring organ music provided by the Santa Barbara Theatre Organ Society with special guest organist Adam Aceto. Aceto will play on the Arlington’s Great Theatre Pipe Organ, a 1928 Robert-Morton “Wonder Morton” of which only 5 were ever made. No tickets are needed for the performance and admission will be on a first come first served basis.
Commemorating Asian American Pacific Islander Heritage Month
Join SBTHP this month for a free, three-part virtual series celebrating Santa Barbara’s Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) community. As acts of violence and racism against Asian Americans have escalated across the country, we will come together as a community to explore the historical context for recent events; listen to and support our AAPI friends, neighbors, and business owners; and celebrate the diverse and rich AAPI cultural traditions that help define Santa Barbara.

NEXT WEBINAR:
A Community Conversation

May 19, 2021 · 6PM
Join us as we hear from local business owners who share perspectives on the contemporary AAPI experience in Santa Barbara. The panel features Allison Yin of Shanghai and Wild Lavender, Jill Agonias of Divinitree Santa Barbara, and Tommy Chang of MŌR Doughnuts. As we engage with the experiences of our friends and neighbors, we will explore ways to support the AAPI community and serve as allies when needed. The discussion will be facilitated by Judy Guillermo-Newton, who has over 35 years of experience as an Executive Leadership Coach and Organizational Development Consultant.
