• The Embassy is proud to present two short plays by local author Shane Riggs! In the world premiere of "Never Say Goodbye," Lucille Ball is at a crossroads in her career. Who better to advise her than the ghost of Carole Lombard? And why would Lombard let a little thing like her ghostly condition come between friends? The ensemble features Whitney O'Haver as Lucy, Katie Zimmermann as Carole, Seth Thompson as Desi, and Lura Thompson as Hildy.

• Preceding "Never Say Goodbye" is another "world premiere" of a play that has been performed many times -- but the Embassy's production will be the first time it will be seen as the author originally envisioned. Suspense builds as Marie Osmond's number one fan is accused of murder. How do they plead? Find out in "The Marie Defense," featuring Stephen Hess. Opening Friday, June 13, runs through Sunday, June 22nd, with Friday and Saturday evening performances at 8 PM and Sunday matinees at 2 PM. Regular admission is $16 or $14 for seniors and students.

HISTORY/MUSEUMS/ALLEGANY COUNTY TOURISM/LIBRARY/WMSR

The Allegany County Library System

This summer, the Allegany County Library System invites readers of all ages to join in the fun with Summer with OUR Library 2025: Color OUR World! From June 9 through August 9, community members can celebrate the joy of reading, learning, and exploration with programs designed for everyone, from babies to adults. Participation is easy: pick up a reading log at any library branch or download one online. Readers can log books, audiobooks, or even bedtime stories and return completed logs to their library for a prize. Children will receive a free book, and teens and adults will receive a free tote bag. Every completed log is also entered into the Grand Prize Drawing to be held on August 22. Participants may submit multiple logs to increase their chances of winning.

The library staff are excited to kick off Summer with Our Library on Wednesday, June 18, starting at 4:00 p.m. at Hoffman Park in Frostburg! This year's summer theme, Color Our World, promises a season bursting with creativity, imagination, and fun for the whole family. Join us for an afternoon filled with vibrant activities like face painting, friendship bracelets, and a storybook stroll. Beloved book characters Elephant & Piggie will be stopping by to say hello, and Kona Ice will be there with free snow cones to help you cool off. We’ll also have raffles, fun giveaways, and on-the-spot library card sign-ups—just bring your photo ID and proof of address. It’s a perfect way to kick off a colorful summer of reading and discovery with the Allegany County Library System!

Back by popular demand, the Story Time in the Park series returns this year, starting with an outdoor story time at the Constitution Park Amphitheater on June 12 at 10:00 a.m. Hosted by ACLS Program Specialists, these engaging story times combine literacy and nature. Families are encouraged to bring blankets or chairs and enjoy books under the open sky. Story times will continue throughout the summer in parks and green spaces across Allegany County, including at the George’s Creek Parklet behind the library and Creekside Park in Westernport—both of which were recently touched by flooding.

In addition to reading incentives and story times, the library will offer a full schedule of special events, including programs at Rocky Gap State Park, Read to Farm Animals at the Allegany County Fair, and more surprises along the way. Schedules and downloadable reading logs can be found at www.alleganycountylibrary.info.
