Kickoff The Holiday At The Northridge Community Tree Lighting | |
Join Harrison Township officials and New City Church for its annual Northridge Community Tree Lighting this Friday, December 3.
The event starts at 6 p.m. as Santa arrives on a fire truck. The tree lighting will take place at 7:30 p.m at New City Church located at 4800 North Dixie Drive.
Enjoy a visit from Santa, Mrs. Claus, Frosty and even the Grinch. Enjoy cookies and hot chocolate from the Montgomery County Sheriff's Office. Also, there will be a live nativity scene, free books and live music and much more. Come on out and enjoy the fun!

Two More Dangerous Properties Have Date With Wrecking Ball Today | |
Today, two more properties in Harrison Township will be demolished as part of the townships efforts to clean up the community.
The property located at 3819 North Main Street in Shiloh and 2009 Division Avenue in Northridge will be torn down because they were deamed dangerous properties and a nuisance in the township. Both homes were damaged by fires in 2021 and 2022.
To date, the township has torn down about a dozen properties this year.

Leaf Pickup Continues Throughout The Township
The Harrison Township Services Department continues leaf collection now into its third and final month. Each zone will have been picked up twice by December 26.

Township Employees Honored By MCTA | |
Two Harrison Township employees were among seven township employees honored by the Montgomery County Township Association (MCTA) at the MCTA Holiday Celebration & Awards Gala last month at The Mandalay in Moraine.
Harrison Township Services Director/Interim Township Administrator, Merle Cyphers and Montgomery County Sheriff's Office - Harrison Township District 10 Adminstrative Assistant, Sarah Kuntz were honored with this years MCTA Award For Excellence.
The MCTA is made up of nine townships in Montgomery County including Harrison, Butler, Clay, German, Jackson, Jefferson, Miami, Perry and Washington Townships.

Montgomery County Solid Waste announces changes to the Household Hazardous Waste program, which will launch in 2023.
If you're in need to properly dispose of batteries, pesticides, paint thinner and other household hazardous waste? The Montgomery County Solid Waste District offers a Household Hazardous Waste program at its facility in Moraine. Be sure to check out the program’s new hours, beginning in the new year. Christmas Tree Safety Tips For You and Your Family During the Holiday | |
Millions of Americans set up Christmas trees for the holiday. In doing so, be sure they’re festive and not a fire hazard.
The Harrison Township Fire Department says keeping your tree watered is the real key to keeping it safe. Dry trees pose the biggest safety hazard. They say to fill up the base of the tree stand with water and check it daily to make sure it doesn’t dry out.
Also, make sure your tree is at least 3 feet away from any heat sources, such as fireplaces, radiators, candles, heat vents or lights.
