From our Co-Chairs:
Dear NextGEN members,

“It’s the gift that keeps on giving.” This iconic phrase resonates well within our organization. When you review all the events, meetings, initiatives, and influence our group of young professionals have, you truly can witness and experience the ever-giving gift we provide to Billings.

We gift purpose, direction, and insight to our community. Our recent Quarters event allowed us to connect with the City Engineer, Director of Parks and Recreation, and the Airport Director. The presenters were informative and embraced the litany of questions from those in attendance. The NextHour event was a hit at Alpha Omega Restoration. Great food and great networking.

The committee co-chairs are constantly planning, meeting, organizing, and ensuring each event is done to provide value to each member of NextGEN. They deserve a lot of credit for their time and effort. THANK YOU ACTION COMMITTEE CO-CHAIRS!

As the year comes to a close, looking back we will see a successful Development Series, great content in each Quarters event, fun memories and new connections from NextHour, our new coffee hour event, a great 5-year anniversary celebration, and much more. Thank you for all you do as not just a NextGEN member, but as a young professional continuously striving to make our community great.

NextGEN’s purpose is to foster relationships among young professionals, develop business opportunities, support civic involvement, and promote an overall investment in the future of our community. This purpose was fulfilled in 2019 thanks to each of you.

Enjoy your holidays. Reflect on all the good you accomplished this year and prepare to keep giving that gift which keeps on giving….You.

All the best,

Brian and David

NextGEN offers two specific programs encouraging our membership to lead one another in professional growth and development.

Cahoots  is a weekly opportunity to connect with fellow NextGEN members and explore a topic through a presenter or group discussion. All NextGEN members may attend this meeting as part of their membership. The group is led by two moderators who commit to creating content and ensuring lively, productive discourse takes place. Moderators serve for six months, with these seats changing every July and January.

NextGEN Ambassadors  are part of the Grow Action Team and serve as the welcoming representatives of the entire group. Ambassadors check-in with new and/or existing members to ensure they’re utilizing their memberships and understand all that is available to them through NextGEN. They also help connect new members to others so that each person has the best experience possible through NextGEN.

If you are interested in either of these positions, please fill out this form , or contact Kelly for more information!
NextUP with NextGEN: Upcoming Events
Learn
Watch for our upcoming Professional Development Series from January to May entitled

The series will feature five workshops, one each month, that will help attendees to evaluate where they are in their own career, where they want to go next, and how they are going to get there. The sessions will enable young professionals to identify their goals and then take action to achieve them.

Each session will include a book recommendation to extend the learning around the particular topic, however the book will not be required in order to achieve results from the sessions.

Our presenters for this series will be:

  • January: Karen Grosz of Canvas Creek Team Building
  • February: Susan Shald with Gallup
  • March: Shelby Jo Long-Hammond of Business Dynamics and Rocky Mountain College
  • April 1st: Karen Miller of BillingsWorks
  • May: William Henry of Be Better World

Registration for the series is $25 per session or $100 if you register for all five. NextGEN is thrilled to offer so many opportunities for young professionals to grow professionally. Find the right fit and get out there!
