Dress for Success Cincinnati is proud to celebrate Volunteer Appreciation Month!

Every year, April is designated Volunteer Appreciation Month! During this month, we will be recognizing our volunteers and celebrating THEM!

We will be providing snacks and drinks during Volunteer Appreciation Week for all volunteers! (April 16th - April 21st) If you're interested in volunteering or learning more, please contact Volunteer Manager, Courtney Shannon.

In honor of Volunteer Appreciation Month, we would like to share the story of client and dedicated volunteer, Pam Brown.

Pam first came to Dress for Success in 2010 after being referred by Andrea at JVS Careers. After resume help and searching for employment, Pam received a job in sales at Macy’s. She then joined our women’s networking group, formerly known as Professional Women’s Group. Pam was also one of our models for the 2011 Fashion Show!

Today, she currently works as a caregiver with developmentally disabled adults. Pam started volunteering at DFSC in 2019 on a regular basis. She describes herself as a “people person” and enjoys volunteer roles at events, but her favorite is being a greeter at the Portaluca Warehouse Sales. She also regularly attends our EmpowerHER meetings!

Thank you, Pam, for all of your dedication to Dress for Success Cincinnati!

DFSC Visits Ryle High School

In February, Dress for Success Cincinnati visited Ryle High School in Union, KY for a Mobile Styling Event. During this event, 15 clients were styled!

Our Mobile Transformation Center allows us to travel to organizations to meet women where they are. By traveling to them, we help eliminate transportation as a barrier to women who are in need of our services.

If your agency or organization would like additional information about scheduling, participating or volunteering for a Mobile event, email our Styling Services Manager at [email protected].

Thank you, Johnson Investment Counsel!

In celebration of International Womens Day the ladies of Johnson Investment Counsel hosted a Sip ‘N’ Swap. Gently used business attire, shoes, and accessories were brought in to swap and all remaining items were donated to Dress for Success Cincinnati after the event.

Volunteer of the Year Nomination

Our nominations for Volunteer of the year 2022 are in! Our top 3 vote getters are listed below. Here are a few examples of the fabulous things that were said:

Lisa Massa - "Lisa consistently goes above and beyond and has done so for over twenty years. She shows up -truly shows up- for clients in the styling studio, as well as board/committee meetings, and special events. Lisa never misses an obligation, is incredibly thoughtful in her approach and work, and always has a smile on her face."

Jinada Snell - "Jinada is the living example of our mission. She is kind, welcoming and always willing to lend a hand. Jinada is dedicated to DFS and has a heart to serve!"

Linda Vaccariello - "Very cooperative and adaptable. Takes initiative without prompting. I've seen her take special interest in the clients during styling events. Linda is patient and kind. What I find to be specifically noteworthy is that she makes her clients feel comfortable and valued. I particularly appreciate how she respects each client's individual condition or situation and tries to meet their needs as she is able."

Congratulations Lisa, Jinada and Linda! It truly is a huge honor to be nominated out of over 300 volunteers. The winner will be announced during Volunteer Appreciation Week (4/17/23 - 4/20/23.) Stay tuned to our social media sites for more information!
