TRANSFORMING HEARTS AND COMMUNITY THROUGH JESUS' LOVE.
| | | | | |
A VIDEO MESSAGE FROM THE RECTOR
This Sunday is St. Gregory’s Annual Meeting! In this week’s video, Fr. Andrew invites you to join him on Sunday at the 8:00 AM and 10:00 AM services, where he will share a “state of the union” as his sermon. Following the 10:00 AM service, we will gather in Harris Hall for our Annual Meeting. Lunch will be available for $6.00.
Fr. Andrew warmly invites everyone to attend and shares that the Annual Meeting is a meaningful time for our parish family to elect new vestry officers, celebrate what God is doing among us, and engage in conversation about our life together and our future with renewed hope. He encourages every member to participate in this important Sunday of worship, fellowship, and shared vision.
Please join us! We look forward to seeing you all. Bless you!

MAKING A DIFFERENCE
EYE GLASSES FOR
MEALS WITH MEANING GUESTS
Add Making a Difference story here.....
| | |
At Meals with Meaning, we are proud to serve our community with the help of many partners. On any given Sunday you will see one of our valued partners serving alongside of us. From iHelp, the medical group, to Yoga instructors and mindfulness breathing coaches, together, we live out our slogan of "Feeding the Mind, Body, and Spirit".
We are happy to announce our latest addition to this community partner list, Glasses for the Homeless. Earlier this month during our Sunday meal program, we set up a mini eye exam station that included a variety of eyeglasses of all prescriptions. As most of our Meals with Meaning guests do not have vision insurance, this was very well received by our beloved guests. For anyone that has less than 20/20 vision, you know the importance of corrective lenses. This is imperative to navigating safely and efficiently throughout the day.
Once a month, on our very own East Terrace near the butterfly garden, we will now be offering free basic vision exams that result in same day takeaway glasses. Thanks to Glasses for the Homeless for being part of caring for the most vulnerable in our community. If you or someone you know needs glasses, please note our next month's event is on Sunday, February 8 from 2:00pm to 3:00pm.
If you would like to know more about Glasses for the Homeless, click HERE or email me at gvallee@st-gregorys.com."

HOPE GROWS HERE
AN UPDATE ON STEWARDSHIP
| | |
FROM THE RECTOR
A STEWARDSHIP UPDATE
Dear Beloved Members of St. Gregory's,
As the Vestry of St. Gregory's meets to finalize the church's budget for 2026, I wanted to provide the latest update on our stewardship campaign. Our proposed budget, which we have recently revised, is based on a pledge income of $1,125,000.
We are close but not quite there!
For those who like statistics here's where we stand:
- We have received pledges from 201 members currently totaling $1,080,000. (By way of comparison, last year we had 203 pledging members who pledged $1,033,000).
- We have 41 new pledging families this year.
- We have 20 families who pledged last year who we're still hoping to hear from.
- We have over 150 families who support St. Gregory's financially, but have not made a pledged financial commitment.
Based on these statistics, this is my message:
First, thank you to everyone who generously gives to support God's mission at St. Gregory's. We are making a difference and we continue to grow in numbers, faith and love. Thanks be God!
Second, I ask that members who give regularly to St. Gregory's prayerfully consider make a pledge. This enables the vestry to make good, wise, and holy decisions in the work of serving as faithful, careful stewards of the church's financial life. You can make a pledge by clicking here to visit our online Pledge page, or by emailing our Financial Manager, Leanda Robinson at lrobinson@st-gregorys.com.
Third, I ask your continued prayers for our congregation as we move forward in faith that we might follow where Jesus is always leading the way!
At our Annual meeting on Sunday, January 25, we will provide a financial report which will update the congregation on stewardship and the budget.
Blessings in Christ,
Andrew+

HOPE GROWS HERE
Hope Grows Here is more than this year’s Stewardship theme. It is a reflection of the vibrant, faithful life of St. Gregory’s. You can see it in our worship, in the ministries that serve our community, and in the spirit of generosity that binds us together.
Thanks to your support, we have received 194 pledges totaling $1,064,000, a demonstration of your generosity and trust in the mission we share. We are deeply grateful for every pledge that has brought us to this important milestone.
As we look toward the year ahead, we also recognize the financial realities facing our parish. This year's Stewardship goal is $1,150,000, which marks an increase over last year. This increase is necessary to sustain and strengthen our ministries in the face of rising costs. Higher insurance premiums and our Diocesan assessment alone will add approximately $25,000 to next year’s expenses. As we prepare our 2026 budget, we anticipate total operating costs rising by 5–7% (about $90,000), while one of our revenue sources is expected to decline by around $50,000.
Even with these challenges, hope continues to grow here because of you. Through faithful giving and parish-wide participation, we can meet our goal and ensure that St. Gregory’s remains a place of spiritual strength, compassion, and welcome for all.
Together, we can continue to grow hope and faith at St. Gregory’s.

What are Spoofing, Phishing and other common scams?
Spoofing is when scammers masquerade as trustworthy entities by subtly altering communication channels, like an email address or website URL. Phishing uses these spoofed emails or websites to trick you into revealing sensitive information, like passwords or bank details. Such scams may also come as text messages (smishing) or phone calls (vishing) and can even redirect you to fake websites through malicious software (pharming).
To learn more about spoofing and phishing, please visit the FBI's website by clicking this link: Spoofing and Phishing — FBI

PROTECT YOURSELF AGAINST
EMAIL SPOOFING AND PHISHING
Online Scams Are On the Rise
Online scames are on the rise globally. In fact, St. Gregory's has experienced "spoofing" and "phishing" attempts, where scammers imitate our staff or clergy to evoke a response from the recipient. No member of St. Gregory’s clergy or staff will ever ask you to purchase gift cards, share sensitive details by email or text, or text you for money.
In our connected world, it's crucial to stay informed about the tactics of cyber scammers, notably spoofing and phishing.
To keep safe, always be skeptical of unsolicited communications requesting personal information. Scrutinize email addresses and URLs for authenticity, and don't click on unknown links. Establish two-factor authentication on your accounts, and be mindful of the personal details you share online which could be used to breach your privacy.
If you receive a dubious email seemingly from St. Gregory's, please do not click on any links. Instead, directly contact our church office at (561) 395-8285 or send an email to office@st-gregorys.com to verify its legitimacy.
If you've been a victim of a serious cyber crime, please file a complaint with the FBI's Internet Crime Complaint Center.

WITH GRATITUDE: A HEARTFELT THANK YOU FROM THE ECW
FOR MAKING THE WOMEN'S RETREAT SO MEANINGFUL AND MEMORABLE
Thank you, Rev. Robyn, for leading such an informative and enjoyable Women’s Retreat on January 17th. More than 50 women gathered in Harris Hall and were inspired as we learned about Hildegard of Bingen—her life, her remarkable creativity, and how she praised God through her art and music. We are also grateful to the Brothers for preparing a delicious lunch.
Hildegard’s story as a visionary, composer, writer, and mystic reminded us of the power of faith expressed through creativity and service. It was a meaningful day of fellowship, learning, and spiritual encouragement.
With gratitude,

SCENES FROM THE
MARTIN LUTHER KING, JR. DAY FREEDOM MARCH
MONDAY, JANUARY 19, 2026
| | |
A MESSAGE FROM TIM
I want to thank Sam Cucci and the choir for their beautiful singing this past Sunday as we observed Martin Luther King Jr Day. As always, they bring us closer to the Divine at every service and if you find yourself being inspired by their music, I hope you’ll plan to attend Choral Evensong this coming Sunday, January 25, at 6 PM. Music will include the beautiful anthem by my colleague and friend, Paul Halley, “Jesu, the Very Thought of Thee” which he composed while serving as Cathedral Organist at the Cathedral of St. John the Divine. His years at the Cathedral preceded mine, and I remember hearing and playing this anthem for the first time when I began my tenure there. The Cathedral Choir and Choristers sang this anthem as we took them on tour to England and I’ll never forget playing it at St. Paul’s Cathedral in London. Based on the hymn tune St. Botolph, Halley sets the beautiful melody over a perpetual, undulating accompaniment which forms a “wash” of sound. The acoustics of a large cathedral were perfect for this anthem and our new acoustics at St. Gregorys are now suitable for this magical setting of an incredibly beautiful hymn.
On Sunday morning at the 10 AM service, the Choir of St. Gregory’s will sing the beautiful anthem “ How Lovely are the Messengers” from the oratorio “Elijah” by Felix Mendelssohn: How lovely are the messengers that preach us the gospel of peace. To all the nations is gone forth the sound of their words…
This anthem pairs beautifully as a meditation upon the scripture for the day. From Isaiah: “The people who walked in darkness have seen a great light; those who lived in a land of deep darkness--on them light has shined. You have multiplied the nation, you have increased its joy; they rejoice before you as with joy at the harvest, as people exult when dividing plunder.” And from Paul to the Corinthians: “For Christ did not send me to baptize but to proclaim the gospel, and not with eloquent wisdom, so that the cross of Christ might not be emptied of its power.” And finally, from Matthew: “Immediately they left the boat and their father and followed him. Jesus went throughout Galilee, teaching in their synagogues and proclaiming the good news of the kingdom and curing every disease and every sickness among the people.”
I’ll see you Sunday both in the AM and for Choral Evensong!
Blessings,
Tim

THE SEASON OF EPIPHANY
What does it mean?
The Epiphany
The manifestation of Christ to the peoples of the earth. The winter solstice was kept on Jan. 6 at some places during the first centuries of the Christian Era. In opposition to pagan festivals, Christians chose this day to celebrate the various manifestations, or "epiphanies," of Jesus' divinity.
These showings of his divinity included his birth, the coming of the Magi, his baptism, and the Wedding at Cana where he miraculously changed water into wine. The day was called "The Feast of Lights." Celebration of the Son of God replaced celebration of the sun. Baptisms were done, and a season of preparation was instituted. It was later called Advent.
The solstice was kept on Dec. 25 by the fourth century. Jesus' birth was celebrated on this day in both eastern and western churches. The western church commemorated the coming of the Magi on Jan. 6. The eastern church continued to celebrate the Baptism of our Lord and the Wedding at Cana on Jan. 6. In the east the day was called "Theophany" (manifestation of God).
The coming of the Magi is celebrated on the Feast of the Epiphany, Jan. 6, in the BCP. The Baptism of our Lord is celebrated on the First Sunday after the Epiphany.
The Epiphany Season
A season of four to nine weeks, from the Feast of the Epiphany (Jan. 6) through the Tuesday before Ash Wednesday. The length of the season varies according to the date of Easter. The gospel stories of this season describe various events that manifest the divinity of Jesus. The coming of the Magi is celebrated on the Epiphany.
The Baptism of our Lord is observed on the Sunday after Epiphany. The gospels for the other Sundays of the Epiphany season describe the wedding at Cana, the calling of the disciples, and various miracles and teachings of Jesus.
The Last Sunday after the Epiphany is always devoted to the Transfiguration. Jesus' identity as the Son of God is dramatically revealed in the Transfiguration gospel, as well as the gospel of the baptism of Christ. We are called to respond to Christ in faith through the showings of his divinity recorded in the gospels of the Epiphany season.

Hello everyone, this is Nihal [Shreya and Sanjana Thomas' cousin living in Cote d'Ivoire, West Africa].
I’m working on a personal project to support SOS Children’s Village in Abidjan, a community that cares for over 100 children who have lost parental care. My project, Édu Soleil: Electrifying SOS Village, aims to help provide reliable, sustainable electricity for their school so the children can learn in a safer environment. I believe that access to electricity can improve their education and daily lives, and I’m hoping to make a meaningful difference for them.

Confirmation Class: LIFE IN CHRIST (Grades 6, 7, 8, and others)
Confirmation Class will meet on Sunday at 9:10 am
in the Conference Room (unless otherwise noted).
Our journey to Confirmation for young people is a three-year program. Our program seeks to nurture the faith of our young people as they prepare for their high school years and beyond, giving them a solid foundation for a Christ-centered life. The Confirmation Class experience may also include retreats, service opportunities and other activities. All young people in grades 6, 7 and 8 can participate in and benefit from this class, regardless of whether or not they choose to be confirmed. Older teens, those transferring from other churches, or any others who are interested are most welcome to participate as well.
During Confirmation we explore:
-- The Bible and the stories that shape our life and faith
-- A life of prayer and worship led by and replenished by the Holy Spirit
-- A life of ministry and service as disciples of Jesus
-- The Anglican/Episcopal tradition in all its breadth and depth

we will build on our previous themes of
What will you do with your one wild and precious life?

"What makes you come alive?"
(from a quote by theologian and civil rights leader Howard Thurman)
OUR THEME FOR 2025-2026: Building Beloved Community
In conjunction with St. Gregory's church-wide Beloved Community initiative we will work on how our lives and gifts reflect God's love in the world.
As we have in the past, we will continue to use some Benedictine practices to bring more balance, proportion and harmony into our lives.

SCENES FROM THE UPPER ROOM...
On Sunday, Jan 18, we gathered to continue our discussion on fresh starts and new beginnings. We had conversation around how Jesus and the disciples were also experiencing new beginnings; the season of Epiphany; and, the connection between baptism and seeing ourselves and others differently. Finally, we heard words of wisdom from our young adults that they wrote down during their Christmas party and discussed how these words are relevant to our lives. See below for their offerings!
Do that thing you think might be cringe.
No one will care years later.
Don’t worry about needing to have it all figured out.
Plans change and that is completely okay.
God has a plan for you.
Follow your own decisions.
Don’t always follow the majority — they may be wrong on a lot of things.
Mistakes can be learned from.
They’re not just a waste of time.
Remember to take breaks.
Success is not worth your mental health.
Push yourself, but respect your own limits.
Don’t let burnout get to you.
College will start fast, and you may still be tired from high school, but stay the course.
You will make it through, and your hard work will pay off.
There is always an open door.
If you don’t know how to read, you don’t know how to learn.
Your neighbors are your closest friends.
Before you make any important decisions, take a moment to think.
Just breathe, maybe take a walk!
You can decided after a moment.
Don’t feel like you have to rush!
Take it easy — no need to over-extend yourself.
You’re more than enough.
Always study for difficult exams ahead of time in college! (That’s how I kept all As.)
Cherish your good/strong friendships.
Don’t drop friends for a new shiny toy.
Unlock your full potential by forgetting bout what other people think.
Stay cool!

KITCHEN SAFETY ALERT!
Keeping Our Children Safe
At St. Gregory's we continually work to keep our children as safe as possible when they are at church. With that in mind we are requesting that children not be in our kitchen for safety reasons.
There are a number of potentially hazardous items that can present challenges -- sharp knives and other kitchen tools, burners and ovens, electrical appliances and outlets, hot pots and pans of food, etc. The kitchen is also often a hive of activity with many volunteers working on food prep or clean up in close quarters and thus is not an ideal place for children.
We ask that you respect this request and instruct your children not to be present in the kitchen. Thank you in advance for your understanding as we all work together to keep our beloved children safe. Grace for all!

Service Ideas
Though school has started, there are still opportunities to do community service and earn hours! Try one of these ideas or come up with some of your own!
❤️ Write notes or make cards of encouragement
for seniors in local nursing homes.
Deliver them yourself (Boca Rehab is a great choice; 755 Meadows Rd, Boca) OR drop them off at church and Anita will deliver them!
❤️ Send a note of thanks or encouragement
to someone serving in the military.
Visit Operation Gratitude's website for great info and guidelines.

❤️ DIY Beach Clean Up
Grab a bag, gloves and/or grabber and hit the sand to pick up trash to keep our beaches clean, beautiful and hospitable for wildlife.
You'll be amazed at how much debris you can collect in even a few minutes of clean-up.

Our closing prayer for this Sunday:
Dear God, as this new year begins, it feels like a fresh page,
and I place it in Your hands.
Thank You for getting me through the past year, with all its ups and downs.
Help me to look for and recognize Your presence in my daily life.
When challenges come, and I feel weak, grant me the strength and courage to rely on You.
Help me to be bold and not let fear hold me back from new opportunities or trying new things that may be a blessing to me or to others.
Show me the unique gifts and talents You've given me and guide me toward a purpose that honors You, whether in school, with friends, or at home.
Guide my steps this year, Lord; help me to make wise choices that align with Your will and bring You glory.
Illuminate my path and give me clarity for my future.
Fill me with Your love, joy, peace, and patience.
Amen.

VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES
Volunteers are needed for various ministries.
| |
Our Lay Eucharistic Visitor volunteer group is looking for members of our St. Gregory’s family to join them as they:
1. Deliver communion and enrich the religious experience of those unable to attend church due to illness or incapacity.
2. Visit and spiritually support those in need of the comfort and companionship of St. Gregory’s
3. Maintain contact with those parishioners with whom they are assigned to assure them that they are still a part of our St. Gregory’s community.
If this type of ministry appeals to you, please contact David Cominole 561-376-9056 or email him at david.cominole@att.net for more information.
