- To alert all about the need to report any issues that raise alarm.
- To understand the legal responsibilities of every person who works with a variety of people of different ages.
- To reinforce the sacred connection of all community members.
- To commit to keeping all safe, whether children, adults, or the elderly.
- To adhere to the canons of the National Episcopal Church.

A MESSAGE FROM THE TREASURER
St. Gregory’s 9-month 2026 Financial Results
Our results for the 9 months ending September 30th were mixed. Total Unrestricted revenue was $1,218,004. This was $38k below plan. The shortfall was almost entirely due to both Pledges and Plate being below plan. On the expense side, we were $29k over budget, primarily due to utilities and repairs. As previously noted, utilities are over plan due to the continued delay in getting our solar project online. We now expect to have this operational around December 1st.
| |
As a result of the above, our actual excess of revenues over expenditures is $15k year to date, which is almost $100k below plan. Our full-year plan is slightly better than break-even. We can achieve this plan if both Pledges and Plate come in at plan. Your continued support of St. Gregory’s is a blessing and allows us to continue our wonderful ministries.
St. Gregory’s leadership team has started the 2027 budgeting process. Your faithful stewardship allows us to responsibly plan for the church’s 2027 activities. We expect 2027 to be a challenging year, with prices for items like repairs, maintenance contracts, and supplies all trending higher. Our pledge goal for 2027 is $1.2M, which is 8% higher than 2026. Please keep this in mind when you complete your 2027 pledge.
I want to thank all of our parishioners for their continued support of St. Gregory’s and its ministries.
Blessings,
Gary W. Paris
Treasurer

A MESSAGE FROM TIM
This Sunday we celebrate the Feast of All Saints! The music at the 10 am worship service will reflect this Feast Day with the choral mass setting, Mass for the Cathedral Church of St. John the Divine, was composed in 1998 by me during my tenure as Cathedral Organist at St. John’s. It had its debut at the Cathedral in 1998 by the Cathedral Choir and Choristers and at Lincoln Center in 2015 when it was performed in concert by the National Chorale at David Geffen Hall (formerly Avery Fisher Hall). The Offertory Anthem, The Saints of God, was composed by New York City composer James Bassi. A resident of Queens, New York, Jim was a choral section leader and resident composer at the Cathedral Church of St. John the Divine. He has served as musical director for several Broadway productions, and his music has been premiered around the world and in the USA, including Carnegie Hall, Avery Fisher Hall, and the Cathedral of St. John the Divine. The Anthem for the Departed is taken from the Requiem by Gabriel Fauré (1845-1924). Requiem was composed in the late 1800’s and completed in 1900. Fauré wrote of the work, "Everything I managed to entertain by way of religious illusion I put into my Requiem, which moreover is dominated from beginning to end by a very human feeling of faith in eternal rest." The Communion Anthem, And I Saw a New Heaven, was composed by British-born composer Edgar Bainton (1880-1956). This is perhaps his best-known work as it so amply captures the beauty and mystery of the text from the Revelation to John with its rich melodic and harmonic textures.
We will also welcome Mr. Michael O’Gieblyn, violin, and Mr. Aziz Sapaev, cello, as our guest musicians at the 10 AM! I’m greatly looking forward to this beautiful service as we remember all those saints in our lives who have gone before us and I can’t wait to hear everyone singing “For All the Saints”!!
I’ll see you Sunday!
Tim

RESERVING ALTAR FLOWERS
TO HONOR A LOVED ONE
OR SPECIAL OCCASION
| |
Each Sunday, as we walk into the church, we are greeted by the beauty of our surroundings. In addition to our newly remodeled space, we now have stunning frontals for each church season, enhancing our worship environment. The flowers at the altar further enrich our worship experience. Sponsoring altar flowers on any given Sunday is a meaningful way to honor a loved one on their birthday, celebrate an anniversary, or pay tribute to someone special. The cost to sponsor flowers is $300. Your generous donation helps offset the cost of the flowers, and when multiple families sponsor together, the cost may be shared. The flowers serve as a beautiful and lasting expression of love and remembrance.
To learn more or to get the process started, please email the church office at office@st-gregorys.com.

CONFIRMATION CLASS: LIFE IN CHRIST
(Grades 6, 7, 8, and others)
THIS SUNDAY:
Confirmation Class - Sunday, November 1 - All Saints Day:
Please meet in the church at 9:10am to
rehearse the Prayers of the People.
Confirmation Class typically meets every Sunday at 9:10 am
during the school year in the Conference Room (unless otherwise noted).
Our journey to Confirmation for young people is a three-year program. Our program seeks to nurture the faith of our young people as they prepare for their high school years and beyond, giving them a solid foundation for a Christ-centered life. The Confirmation Class experience may also include retreats, service opportunities and other activities. All young people in grades 6, 7, and 8 can participate in and benefit from this class, regardless of whether or not they choose to be confirmed. Older teens, those transferring from other churches, or any others who are interested are most welcome to participate as well.
During Confirmation, we explore:
-- The Bible and the stories that shape our life and faith
-- A life of prayer and worship led by and replenished by the Holy Spirit
-- A life of ministry and service as disciples of Jesus
-- The Anglican/Episcopal tradition in all its breadth and depth

SCENES FROM THE UPPER ROOM...
On Sunday, Oct 25 we began as always with prayer/meditation time, which included a reflection by theologian Kat Armas that picks up on our theme of "I matter. I belong. I love." Here is an excerpt from the reflection:
...this gospel, cuts through the air: “There is neither Greek nor Jew, circumcised nor uncircumcised, barbarian, Scythian, slave nor free ...” (from St. Paul’s letter to the Colossians 3:11). These labels—Greek, Jew, slave, free—were more than words; they were walls built around souls, barriers defining who could rise, who was condemned to serve. But with…[this] bold proclamation, the empire’s iron categories tremble. In [Jesus] Christ, even the outsider is welcomed. No longer must anyone bow to belong; this new kin-dom dismantles the lie that peace requires our silence….
The way of Jesus stands in stark contrast [to oppressive systems]. This gospel takes the empire’s most despised [ones] and remakes them, offering not only belonging but belovedness. The reach of Christ’s love goes to the most forsaken corners of the imagination and brings forth kin [those who belong to each other in loving relationship]. Here, we find a love that turns the feared into family.
In this new kin-dom, there is no lower rank…. Jew and Greek, slave and free, barbarian and Scythian all gather at the same table, each honored as they are.
From this beginning flowed a presentation by Megan Sease of PEACE (People Engaged in Active Community Efforts). Megan led us in a discussion about who our neighbors (our "kin") are and how we are called to serve them. She reminded us that no effort to better our communities is too small and that each of us can make a positive impact. We shared some stories of how we have served or can serve and then concluded with prayer (see below).

Civil Rights Pilgrimage
Informative Session with Fr. Chris Harding
Sunday, December 13
All Parents and Teens are invited.
Fr. Chris Harding is exploring the possibility of leading a pilgrimage to several key sites in the American civil rights movement. Fr. Attendance at six preparation sessions (using materials from the Absalom Jones Center for Racial Healing and the Episcopal Diocese of Atlanta) will be required for all attendees.
The informational session for parents and teens will be held on
Sunday, December 13 at 11:30 am in the Youth Room.
Please feel free to bring your Brothers Breakfast with you as you join the discussion in the Youth Room!
Please contact Fr. Chris if you have questions prior to the information session.
