A VIDEO MESSAGE FROM THE RECTOR

In this week’s video, Father Andrew joyfully proclaims the continuing celebration of Easter at St. Gregory’s and invites all to gather for worship this Sunday. He highlights this Sunday's Brothers’ Easter Breakfast as a wonderful opportunity to share fellowship with the church family, and reflects on the Gospel story of Thomas, offering a fresh perspective on “Believing Thomas,” which he will explore further in his sermon. We look forward to seeing you and your family on Sunday.

IMPACT

MAKING A DIFFERENCE

ST. GREGORY'S

THE CULTURAL AND SACRED HUB OF ARTS AND SERVICE

On March 14, St. Gregory’s hosted a musical event that helped to shape the musical lives of several young South Florida Jr. High and High School musicians as they competed in the National Society of Arts and Letters High Brass Competition. The National Society of Arts and Letters is a nonprofit organization founded in 1944, dedicated to supporting and encouraging young emerging artists in the United States. Through competitions, scholarships, and career opportunities, NSAL helps talented individuals in music, drama, dance, visual arts, and literature take the next step toward professional success. Each year, local chapters hold competitions in various artistic disciplines, and the winners advance to a national competition, where they compete for significant awards and professional recognition. The winner will now proceed to the National Competition in Little Rock, May 14-16.

Our newly renovated sanctuary with its superb acoustics and our beautifully restored Steinway grand piano led to St. Gregory’s being considered so when I was approached by Lynn University Piano Faculty member Lisa Leonard about the possibility of St. Gregory’s being available to host this event, I immediately said yes!

As we continue to broaden our relationships among the arts communities here in Boca Raton and South Florida, we can be proud of the fact that we are now a premier venue, not only for professional performance ensembles and soloists, but for young performers such as these with the NSAL. Unique performance opportunities such as this make a huge difference in the musical lives of these young aspiring musicians and they will remember their time in our space for years to come.

Thursday, April 9, 7:00 pm

St. Gregory's Episcopal, Boca Raton

On Thursday April 9 at 7:00 pm, join Conductor Patrick Dupre Quigley at St. Gregory's for his final concert as Seraphic Fire’s Artistic Director. You’ll be at the center of this aural explosion as the artists sing from every corner of the room. Seraphic Fire’s use of ‘surround sound’ has always been part of their DNA - the ability to utilize the whole venue and create an amazing sound that elicits unforgettable moments. This program includes extraordinary music: Hymn to the Virgin by Benjamin Britten, “Agnus Dei” from Missa Ave Regina Caelorum by Tomás Luis de Victoria, and the most magnificent music of Claudio Monteverdi.

The Pre-Concert Conversation will be presented one hour before the concert by Dr. James K. Bass, Seraphic Fire’s newly-named Artistic Director beginning with Season 24. Tickets are on sale now at SeraphicFire.org and by phone at 305.285.9060. Tickets for next season will go on sale April 9.

MUSIC MINISTRY

A MESSAGE FROM TIM

Happy Easter! I want to thank all those who gave so generously to our Easter Music Fund! You helped to make our music extra special this past Sunday!  I also wish to thank members of the Choir of St. Gregory’s and all our guest musicians who sang and played so beautifully! Our Schola Cantorum members Anja Yargici, Lori Snow, Tabitha Jenkins, Brittany Sloane, Sam Cucci, and Lovell Rose, worked very hard this past week as they sang for Tenebrae, Maundy Thursday, Good Friday, and Easter Vigil as well as two services on Sunday. Choir members for Good Friday and Easter Sunday also included Pancy Gabriel, Wendy McHugh, Paul Hammity, Tom Hancock, and Dylan Thomas. The amount of music covered within the scope of five days was astounding and I am very proud of the work everyone did to make our worship beautiful and meaningful for everyone in attendance.

And many thanks also go to Louis Birro, our Audio/Visual Coordinator, who was manning the livestream production all week for all our services. We really do have the finest online livestream service of any church in the country!

This Sunday will be the Second Sunday of Easter, and the Choir will be singing “Easter Song of Praise” by Richard Shephard and an Anglican Chant version of the Pascha Nostrum

by P. M. Smith.

Our Eastertide Choral Evensong will be April 26 at 6 PM which will be one of our most beautiful to date! Plan now to invite your friends and bring your loved ones! This is one of our most beautiful services at St. Gregory’s and honestly, you’d have to pay upwards of $50 a ticket to hear music of this caliber and excellence in a concert setting. So why not take advantage of having this opportunity to hear some of the most beautiful choral music ever composed sung by the finest choir in South Florida in the liturgical setting for which it was conceived, in the most beautiful sanctuary, for free! (An Offering will be appreciated, of course!)

See you Sunday!

Easter Blessings!

SAFETY AND SECURITY

SCAM ALERT:

SPOOFING AND PHISHING ARE ON THE RISE

We have recently been made aware of scammers spoofing St. Gregory’s personal and church office email addresses. If you ever receive an email or text that seems unusual, urgent, or requests personal or financial information, please do not respond or click on any links and alert the church office at your earliest convenience. Unfortunately, these scams are becoming increasingly sophisticated.

When in doubt, pause and double-check the authenticity of the sender and contact the church office at office@st-gregorys.com. We are always here for you.

Additionally, The Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles warns of widespread “DMV” text scams—please remember they will never contact you by text demanding payment or threatening suspension. Learn more from the FLHSMV Scam Alert page

The Federal Bureau of Investigation advises that phishing and “smishing” (text-based scams) often try to create urgency to trick you into clicking malicious links or sharing sensitive information. The safest approach is simple: stay alert, don’t click, don’t reply, and verify through official sources. Learn more at: Spoofing and Phishing — FBI

Twenty million Americans—10% of the population—ventured outdoors and protested together. Today, such concerns continue, and the day is a day for recommitting our actions taking place throughout the world. We are called to continue to do our parts to make our environment even better. Two events to consider for Earth Day.

Call (561) 544-8612 for details and reserve your spot; space is limited. Rain or Shine. Saturday, April 18. 8 to 11 am

Earth Day at Gumbo Limbo - Wednesday, April 22 at 6:30 PM.  Celebrate Earth Day with Paleontologist Robert DePalma, Curator of the Palm Beach Museum, at Gumbo Limbo Nature Center at 6:30 pm. Call to register 561-544-8605

ST GREGORY'S YOUTH GROUP MEMBER

QUALIFIES FOR STATE DECA COMPETITION!

Our own Sanjana Thomas, daughter of Arun & Sneha Thomas, attended the DECA competition for District 8 and qualified to continue on to the state level!

Congratulations, Sanjana!

Distributive Education Clubs of America. DECA is organized into two unique student divisions each with programs designed to address the learning styles, interests, and focus of its members. The High School Division includes over 292,000 members in over 4,000 schools.

Florida Atlantic University High School students demonstrated exceptional skill and preparation at the District 8 Florida DECA competition, a rigorous regional event representing top student talent from Palm Beach, St. Lucie, and Martin counties.

At the start of the school year, students selected from nearly 50 competitive DECA categories spanning marketing, finance, entrepreneurship, hospitality, and management. Their journey began on campus with a comprehensive 100-question exam designed to assess business knowledge and critical thinking. Only the top-performing students across the district received invitations to advance.

In January, qualifying students competed at Keiser University, where they were challenged to think and perform like real-world business professionals. Depending on their category, students delivered prepared presentations, such as proposing a new product, service, or promotional event, or tackled impromptu business scenarios while developing and presenting solutions with limited preparation time.

Final scores combined exam results with presentation or role-play performance, with the top competitors earning the opportunity to advance to the Florida DECA State Career Development Conference in Orlando this March. From there, the highest achievers may continue to the international level in Atlanta later this year.

In addition to the district competition, several FAU High School students qualified directly for the state conference through an advanced pathway, submitting comprehensive, 20-page business proposals that were judged independently, a testament to their depth of research, creativity, and commitment.

Our Lay Eucharistic Visitor volunteer group is looking for members of our St. Gregory’s family to join them as they:

1. Deliver communion and enrich the religious experience of those unable to attend church due to illness or incapacity.

2. Visit and spiritually support those in need of the comfort and companionship of St. Gregory’s

3. Maintain contact with those parishioners with whom they are assigned to assure them that they are still a part of our St. Gregory’s community.

If this type of ministry appeals to you, please contact David Cominole 561-376-9056 or email him at david.cominole@att.net for more information.
