MAKING A DIFFERENCE
ST. GREGORY'S CLERGY TEAM
| | |
As I announced this week, the Rev. Chris Harding will be joining our staff as an Assistant Rector in September. I am excited about the gifts he will bring to us. I'm also grateful that a priority in our strategic planning process is already coming to life. But I also wanted to take a moment to give thanks for our entire clergy team for their dedication to the mission of Christ at St. Gregory's.
Mother Mary Ellen has, in just a short time, made a positive impact on our staff. Her engaging preaching and authenticity as a priest and person are so compelling. And how blessed are we that our Associate clergy share so freely and fully their presence and gifts. Rev. Elizabeth Pankey Warren leads our Yoga Ministry team and serves so faithfully at our Beach Eucharists and at our 8 am Sunday Eucharists. Fr. Emillio brings his pastoral heart and experienced priestly gifts to our weekday worship and pastoral care to so many of our members.
Fr. Bruno's saintly presence is an integral part of our Sunday healing ministry. He and his whole family bless this congregation. And, finally, Fr. Craig, our Associate Clergy Emeritus, is our holy barista at Meals with Meaning and a priestly presence in our congregational life. Truly, how blessed are we!
Thank you, clergy team, for making a life-giving difference in our life in Christ at
St. Gregory's!
Fr. Andrew+

YOGA MINISTRY SURVEY
St. Gregory's Yoga Ministry would like to hear from you!
Please take a moment to take the online survey.
St. Gregory's Yoga Ministry was founded and is led by Rev. Elizabeth Pankey-Warren, and the Yoga and Sacred Movement has been coordinated by congregant Daphne Lombardo. The program is now further enhanced by the skilled yoga instruction of congregants Jennifer Attonito, Susan Standbrook, and Rosie Sandoval.
As you may be aware, St. Gregory's currently offers Yoga and Sacred Movement once per month every third Thursday. There have been requests to add a second Sacred Movement class monthly. Please click the button below to complete the brief survey. Or, if you prefer, printed surveys can found on the Welcome Table in the Sanctuary and Harris Hall. Your feedback will help guide us on the feasibility and scheduling of this second class and expanding our offerings.

A MESSAGE FROM TIM
I hope everyone comes out for an evening of Piano and Poetry today at 6 pm! It will be a beautiful and elegant affair! Many thanks to all our readers and all who have helped to make this evening possible! It will be a great time of inspiration and fellowship!
Tomorrow, I leave for Kentucky once again for a last sprint home before the Fall season ramps up. We will celebrate my Aunt Naomi’s 99th birthday on Sunday!
This Sunday in my absence we will once again welcome guest organist Michael Murray who played a couple of weeks ago and soprano Casey Kunmann as soloist. Casey is one of our newest Choral Section Leaders of the choir and on Sunday she will sing a setting of the Latin prayer originally published in 1853 as “A Meditation on Prelude No. 1 of J. S. Bach” (1685-1750) by the French composer Charles Gounod (1818-1893). His setting consists of a superimposed melody over Bach’s Prelude No. 1 in C major, BSV 846, from Book 1 of his “Well-Tempered Clavier” from 1722. The original version was for violin solo but was arranged for voice with the Ave Maria text in 1859. In addition, Casey will sing the beautiful aria “I Know that my Redeemer Liveth” from G. F. Handel’s famous (1685-1759) oratorio “Messiah”. Structured in three parts, this aria begins Part III which tells the promise of redemption, ending with the final victory over sin and death.
I’ll see you tonight at Piano and Poetry!
Blessings,
Tim

SCAM ALERT:
SPOOFING AND PHISHING ARE ON THE RISE
We have recently been made aware of scammers spoofing St. Gregory’s personal and church office email addresses. If you ever receive an email or text that seems unusual, urgent, or requests personal or financial information, please do not respond or click on any links and alert the church office at your earliest convenience. Unfortunately, these scams are becoming increasingly sophisticated.
When in doubt, pause and double-check the authenticity of the sender and contact the church office at office@st-gregorys.com. We are always here for you.
Additionally, The Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles warns of widespread “DMV” text scams—please remember they will never contact you by text demanding payment or threatening suspension. Learn more from the FLHSMV Scam Alert page
The Federal Bureau of Investigation advises that phishing and “smishing” (text-based scams) often try to create urgency to trick you into clicking malicious links or sharing sensitive information. The safest approach is simple: stay alert, don’t click, don’t reply, and verify through official sources. Learn more at: Spoofing and Phishing — FBI

For those seeking additional assistance, several local programs are also offering support. RESERVING ALTAR FLOWERS
TO HONOR A LOVED ONE
OR SPECIAL OCCASION
| |
Each Sunday, as we walk into the church, we are greeted by the beauty of our surroundings. In addition to our newly remodeled space, we now have stunning frontals for each church season, enhancing our worship environment. The flowers at the altar further enrich our worship experience. Sponsoring altar flowers on any given Sunday is a meaningful way to honor a loved one on their birthday, celebrate an anniversary, or pay tribute to someone special. The cost to sponsor flowers is $300. Your generous donation helps offset the cost of the flowers, and when multiple families sponsor together, the cost may be shared. The flowers serve as a beautiful and lasting expression of love and remembrance.
To learn more or to get the process started, please email the church office at office@st-gregorys.com.

CONFIRMATION CLASS: LIFE IN CHRIST
(Grades 6, 7, 8 and others)
Classes will resume on Sunday, August 23, 2026.
Please stay tuned for updates!
Confirmation Class meets every Sunday at 9:10 am during the school year in the Conference Room (unless otherwise noted).
Our journey to Confirmation for young people is a three-year program. Our program seeks to nurture the faith of our young people as they prepare for their high school years and beyond, giving them a solid foundation for a Christ-centered life. The Confirmation Class experience may also include retreats, service opportunities and other activities. All young people in grades 6, 7 and 8 can participate in and benefit from this class, regardless of whether or not they choose to be confirmed. Older teens, those transferring from other churches, or any others who are interested are most welcome to participate as well.
During Confirmation we explore:
-- The Bible and the stories that shape our life and faith
-- A life of prayer and worship led by and replenished by the Holy Spirit
-- A life of ministry and service as disciples of Jesus
-- The Anglican/Episcopal tradition in all its breadth and depth

Conversation, Reflection and Prayer -- with lots of Fun and Fellowship!
Upper Room Time meets at 9:45am in the Youth Room during the program year. All teens 6th - 12th grade are warmly invited to join us!
WHAT DO WE DO DURING UPPER ROOM TIME?
Following our pattern of Pause, Listen, Reflect, Pray and Go,
we build on our previous themes of
What will you do with your one wild and precious life?
(based on Mary Oliver's poem The Summer Day) and
"What makes you come alive?"
(from a quote by theologian and civil rights leader Howard Thurman)
"Building Beloved Community"
In conjunction with St. Gregory's church-wide Beloved Community initiative we worked on how our lives and gifts reflect God's love in the world.
Theme for 2026-2027 -- "I matter. I belong. I love."
We will delve more deeply into our core identity statement:
I am a beloved child of God.
I am a member of the Body of Christ.
I have a unique calling and purpose in this world.
As we have in the past, we continue to use some Benedictine practices to bring more balance, proportion and harmony into our lives.
