And Sew On... March 1st, 2021
|
|
Debe mentioned to me a few weeks ago that Racheal was working on a cool wall hanging size quilt as a store sample.
This project went through our normal procedures for samples ... take the kit home, leave it on the curved half wall of our den, Racheal picks up the kit then delivers a completed quilt top back a short time later.
On its last trip to our house, I happened to be home when she brought the completed project by after binding it.
When I greeted Racheal with the bag in her hands mentioned this project was a bit different but she had enjoyed working on it! She then pulled the folded sample out of the travel bag unveiling it to me, I was taken back and my creative juices immediately started flowing! What kind of backdrop would highlight these colors and their wildness more than the beautiful Arizona Sonoran Desert! Considering that our home sits on the edge of miles and miles of that Sonoran Desert,
I grabbed the quilt and headed up the road a few miles where you have to look hard not to see Saguaro Cactus when looking in any direction.
After turning down a less-traveled side road, I found a place to park where the Stay Wild quilt, and I went looking for that perfect backdrop to give some ambiance to my pics. Because of the recent moisture and cool temps, our desert has a touch of green to it, which adds a nice colorful background for this quilt! When I was satisfied with my pics, I headed back to the car when I couldn't help but notice several ballon ground crews preparing their ballons for lift-off! Stay Wild and I headed that direction as I watched the big fans force air into the massive balloons until the baskets were attached and then the propane manifolds took over, expressing hot-air into the balloons! Before one of the balloons was filled to lift-off capacity, I asked my new friend, Marlene, if she would be willing to pose for a pic with Stay Wild and the balloon in the background. She very willingly said yes as she and her husband prepared for their very first balloon ride.
All in all, Stay Wild, and I had a very adventuresome afternoon together enjoying the desert's beauty and staying wild!
If you would like to take a walk on the wild side, we still have some kits of this fun quilt available that would add a touch of wild to
wherever it is displayed.
Also, if a hot air balloon ride has always been on your bucket list, I am attaching a link to Rainbow Ryders website so you can explore the possibility of checking this adventure off your list!
Happy Staying Wild Quilting!
