A Message from Pastor Tom…

This Sunday, we light the third Advent candle. It is the candle that symbolizes Christian joy. Amid the trials and tribulations of daily life, joy seems hard to find. Perhaps, we are not seeking joy. We are no doubt just trying to be happy over something, some event, or an unexpected windfall. The joy of Advent is not based on who we are or on what we have accomplished or might accomplish in the future. Remember, true joy is what God gives to the world through Jesus Christ. Advent joy is abundant, eternal, and never dependent on the circumstances of life. Scripture names joy as the basis of our strength and the reason we can stand against despair and death. During this season of preparation and prayer, may each one of us experience the true joy that Christ brings to the world.

Bible Study - The Gospel of Mark

This study is a masterful retelling of the Good News of Jesus Christ. Cast in simple yet profoundly meaningful language, the Gospel calls us all to reconsider what it means to be a disciple of Jesus Christ. Join us as we journey through the Gospel of Mark. In a relaxed small group atmosphere, we will consider Mark’s primary messages, his use of humor and irony to reveal Jesus’ mission, and the Gospel’s unexpected conclusion. Evening: Wednesdays, 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at Church of the Four Seasons

Daytime: Wednesdays, 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at Salem United Methodist
