Paul Doerrfeld Announces Retirement
Paul Doerrfeld will soon be starting a new chapter, as he intends to retire from his position as Organist/Accompanist at FCCGE this fall. We celebrated his 14th anniversary with us this past spring, and it has been 14 years of wonderful music and memories. We plan to celebrate Paul's retirement with an online concert that he will present with his sister, Ellen Coman, scheduled tentatively for sometime in October.
So, please join us in thanking Paul for the many ways that he has shaped, supported and sustained our worship experience and our choir community. We encourage you to reach out to Paul directly with your well wishes - or send a card to him at the church.

Compassion Camp: Joining Children Everywhere

Naturally, in-person VBS wasn't possible this year, but that didn't stop our mighty VBS team, Catherine Curtis, FCCGE Director of Education and leaders from neighbor churches Grace Lutheran and Faith Lutheran. All new territory, these dedicated leaders put together an online, week-long program of music, crafts, cooking, lessons, games and fun.
Did anyone show up?
Read on, Dear Viewer:

  • 70 kids participated in 2020 Community VBS: Compassion Camp
  • Almost 25% of participants were from other congregations or friends in the community and 10 different towns were represented
  • 17 families donated groceries to the Glen Ellyn Food Pantry

It's still available to participate in at your own pace and schedule via links in the Sunday Morning Church School email

We share in joy of our little ones living a life of love and compassion and thank our leaders for their dedication and hard work!

Help FCCGE Defend Its Title as The Largest Participating Congregation in this Year’s Virtual Event!

This year’s PADS Run 4 Home will be a “virtual” event. That means that rather than showing up on September 19 at 8:00 a.m. to run a 10k or 5k or walk a 5k or 1k, you can do one of these events any time between September 1 and September 19.

Be the Church Campaign Update

Many thanks to everyone who has participated in our Be the Church annual fund drive. At this time, we have collected 234 pledges and $916,330 total  towards our $1,000,000 goal. This will help us to support staff and ministries that make a real impact in our community. If you have not sent in your pledge yet, please consider doing so soon through one of the means you can read about to the right of this article.
Thank you for helping us to Be the Church.
