Film Discussion Group
Tues.Nov. 13th, 6:30 in the Starlight Cinema.

The Tuesday after the mid-terms we'll view and discuss one of those rare movies that has a light touch on politics: Being There (1979) by Hal Ashby, starring Peter Sellers.

Peter Sellers gives one of his finest portrayals as an untutored victim of environmental isolation, living his life entirely within the walls of a Washington house and its garden, with television providing his only link to the outside world. When he's forced outside, this charming vacuum becomes, through a series of well-wrought ironies, the toast of the town. Contact

Visual Arts Ministry (VAM)
Main Gallery

You may have heard about the recent formation of a partnership between FCCGE and Precious Blood Ministry of Reconciliation (PBMR). PBMR is a nonprofit restorative justice hub located in the "Back of the Yards" neighborhood in Chicago. Sharing in Christ's mission of reconciliation, they work as agents of reconciliation and healing with those in the community and the Church who have been impacted by violence and conflict. Their work includes support for children and youth, families (particularly mothers), and detention (those incarcerated, often due to connections with gun violence). They have a commitment to the belief that the arts enable those impacted by trauma to tell their story in ways not otherwise possible, and that art can be instrumental in the healing process. We are blessed to have in our main gallery some of the art created over the past few years by members of the PBMR community. The messages conveyed by the work are simple, honest, and incredibly powerful. Handouts with more information about PBMR are available in the gallery.
