sacrament of Communion in worship this coming Sunday. As in the past, it will take place during online worship and we invite you to use elements from your own kitchen. The image above is from the Hecht house - please share your Communion plate with us! Send to Sherry@fccge.org.
PADS Program Update:
FCC Moderators Invite You to a Listening Session
Sunday October 4th at 1:00 pm

PADS has asked FCCGE to participate in a “pilot program” which would restart the overnight shelter program and hopefully enhance PADS goal of providing more than just overnight shelter. In addition to providing overnight shelter and respite to its clients (our guests),PADS aims to assist its clients in breaking the cycle of homelessness through various programs. The pilot program proposed by PADS would have FCCGE host guests for three consecutive nights (Sunday, Monday and Tuesday), rather than just our usual Sunday night, with the goal of enhancing PADS ability to provide services to its clients. PADS would like to start the pilot program in early November. We will have a ZOOM listening session Sunday, October 4th at 1:00 pm to learn more and ask questions. Access at https://zoom.us/j/92244060263.

Texts from FCCGE

As part of our communication system, we occasionally send out texts from the church. Almost always, they are quick reminders of events that have been heavily advertised. They are identified by the content and come from (630)280-3080, a number we were assigned. Put this number in your contacts under "FCCGE" so you'll always know it's us! If you no longer wish to receive texts, simply respond with the word STOP.
Music
Paul Doerrfeld's Farewell Concert
Weds. Oct. 21st at 7 pm

Paul Doerrfeld will soon be starting a new chapter, as he intends to retire from his position as Organist/Accompanist at FCCGE this fall. We plan to celebrate Paul's retirement with an online concert that he will present with his sister, Ellen Coman, on October 21st, 2020. The music will feature solo piano pieces by the French composer Claude Debussy, and Catalan composer Federico Mompou. Also, Paul and his sister Ellen Coman, will be playing two piano duets (four hands on one piano) featuring a Brazilian and a Cuban composer. The concert will end with Mendelssohn’s 5th Organ Sonata in D Major. Paul will be speaking a bit about each piece, either by himself, or by interviewing a member of his family. Watch for some antics between Paul and his sister on the piano bench! You can see this fabulous concert on FCC’s YouTube channel: First Congregational Church of Glen Ellyn beginning Oct. 21st at 7 PM. We encourage you to reach out to Paul directly with your well wishes at or send a card to him at the church. 535 Forest Ave. Glen Ellyn, Il. 60137.
Virtual Choir

The only way to sing safely these days is to sing on Zoom! But, you can’t stop the music, so we are marching forward into the future by rehearsing online and creating virtual choir videos for worship. The choir meets on Zoom, Thursdays at 7:30 pm. All are welcome - no audition necessary! Nurture your spirit and join our choir family! Contact Michele Hecht, Director of Music Ministry .
