Premiere of Pandemic Choral Composition

A prayer of hope for the choirs of the world who have been silenced during the global pandemic

A new 'pandemic' choral composition, "Bring Us Peace", original words and music by Michele Hecht, will premiere on Wednesday, October 28 at 8pm CDT on the FCCGE Youtube channel.

Our Director of Music Ministry, Michele Hecht, was awake in the middle of the night back in March when the pandemic was new, and the unknown was particularly frightening. During those wee hours, she lifted up a prayer for God to bring comfort, peace and hope. That prayer became a choral piece that she taught to our choir through recordings and virtual choir rehearsals with muted voices. Each singer practiced and submitted their individual videos of their solitary voices, unsure and unsteady without the comfort of the choir behind them, unable to hear how everything would come together.

The combination of these solo voices culminated in a virtual choir video. It is a magical thing to finally hear how everything sounds together, how the harmony expands and soars, how the unison becomes hauntingly powerful. It has been a journey of discovery, empowerment and gratitude for the beauty that can be made when we come together. We can make something bigger than ourselves. Music is a gift from God, and we lift this prayer back up to our creator who sustains and delivers us.

We invite you to watch this short video with us when it premieres on Wednesday, October 28 at 8pm CDT on the FCCGE Youtube channel. It will then be used in worship on Sunday, November 1. You can help spread this message of hope by sharing the link with others.

Dear White Christians Book Group
November 1-22

This was a summer of racial uprising where the murders of George Floyd - Breonna Taylor- and too many others have made us realize the ways that racism is still deeply embedded in our lives and our nation. As people of faith how have we participated in systems- and how has the church- created and perpetuated racism and with our increased awareness what are we called to do? Join us for a four week curriculum as we read Professor Jennifer Harvey's book Dear White Christians and ask deep questions of our faith and ourselves.

If interested in being a part please sign up here - Pastor Kendra will be in touch with more information.

October 25th @ 10am

The possible existence of ghosts, angels, demons, and UFO's all have vast theological implications; and yet, they are seldom acknowledged or explored within a religious context. And regardless of their reality, their mythology has had a significant cultural impact throughout history. This Halloween season, join self-proclaimed scholar of the occult, Rev. Seth Ethan Carey, for a lively discussion about faith in things unseen. ZOOM link:
