The 2016 Election: What Happened and Why? What's Coming?
What role did gerrymandering, voter demographics, frustration and priorities,  super PACS and other factors play in the recent election? How have the political parties been changed by this election? Join us for coffee, conversation and community. All are invited.

This is our last forum for the fall season.  Our forum committee and our speakers thank you all for the opportunity to discuss and reflect on the current issues that affect  us all.   Join us for our first winter forum on Sunday, January 22nd.

Board members will be available for questions and concerns during coffee hour.  For your privacy, we will be drinking our coffee in Room 212 (Valerie's former office, next to the RE Assistants office).  Come by for a chat any Sunday.

New Connections
Are you a newcomer to our church?
Come join us to make New Connections.  We meet in the Baker Room this Sunday (and every third Sunday of the month) at 12:30.  It's a facilitated conversation to help newcomers, visitors, and guests express what they are looking for in a faith community and hear from members who have made First Unitarian their church home.
Let's get ahead of ourselves just enough to write these dates in your planner:
Dec 3:  Hanging of the Greens
Dec. 7: Hymn Singing Wkshp

Gun Violence Reduction Team Reschedules
Instead of meeting Sunday, November 20, we will reschedule a meeting after the holidays.  We know many would like to attend the memorial service on the 20th.

Indoor  Gardening Opportunity
Some of the plants near the red couches are ready for some bigger pots.  They've been trimmed back, but they have outgrown their current quarters.  Would anyone like to repot them?  Larger pots are already there, waiting.

Hey UU: What's cooking? #31
Marinated Vegetables
This dish is easy and can be served right out of the oven, cold, or at room temperature with any kind of protein. You can use summer squash or zucchini, eggplant, peppers of every color, asparagus, or a combination. Onions are good in it, too. You can also use winter/root vegetables such as carrots, parsnips, regular or sweet potatoes, winter squash, red or golden beets with onions and brussels sprouts. The marinating time is 12 hours, so you have to prepare it in advance.
I ngredients (for four servings)
1-1/2 lb. veggies
salt and pepper to taste
2 T. olive oil
2 T. balsamic vinegar (optional-for a zippier flavor)
2 large cloves garlic, sliced
Preheat oven to 425.
1. Chop veggies to roughly the same size so they'll all be done at the same time.
2. Put everything in a large bowl and mix to coat evenly with the oil; marinate for about 12 hours.
3. Spread veggies in one layer on a baking sheet or roasting pan.
4. Roast at 425 for about 30 minutes, turning them over after 15 minutes.
Serve hot, cold, or at room temperature.
