Thousands reached at The Dispatch Spring Home & Garden Show

OSU Extension and our Master Gardener Volunteers conducted one of the largest OSU Extension outreach events of the year at The Columbus Dispatch Spring Home and Garden Show over eight days in February. Master Gardeners built and staffed two specialty gardens at the show; The Edible Garden which features vegetables, herbs, and fruit plants and a Tomato Keyhole Garden which saw a combined 4,772 visitors. Extension educators and Master Gardener Volunteers taught 30 different workshops at the show for 524 participants. Master Gardeners staffed an Ask A Master Gardener Booth at the show and answered 1,401 questions from the gardening public. More than 32,000 OSU Extension fact sheets on gardening topics were distributed at the show.

Living on a Budget

Approximately 130 Bishop Hartley seniors got to experience real life through completing Real Money. Real World. This youth-focused financial literacy program includes an interactive spending simulation that provides the opportunity to make lifestyle and budget choices similar to those made by 27-year-old adults. Students get a perspective the cost required to maintain a household and care for a child.

The Bishop Hartley seniors shared their surprise at the cost of food and proclaimed how grateful they are for their parents. They also noted that it is important to budget and to prioritize needs vs. wants. Check out the Real Money. Real World. program here.

Congratulations Casey & Anthony!

“We closed on Jan. 5 and turned in our apartment keys on Jan. 31. (I also got the news that my student loans were forgiven under PSLF on Jan. 2!) We can't thank you and your team enough for giving us the confidence to move forward and make this a reality. It was a difficult process emotionally, but so much easier in practical terms because we were armed with knowledge! A colleague of mine is planning to buy within the next year, and I have recommended your program.” Casey and Anthony

Put Your Running Shoes On...It's Clover 5K Time

Celebrate one of the pillars of 4-H -- Health, to better living -- by running or walking on the grounds of the Franklin County Fairgrounds in Hilliard. The 4-H Clover 5K is a run with a purpose. All funds help support the Walk & Serve, a community service event that benefits over 10 area non-profits and the populations they serve. If you are interested in participating in the Clover 5K Run/Walk, there is still time to register. More information about the event can be found here.

Join Us & Give Back to Our Community

Join us for the 2023 Franklin County 4-H Walk and Serve and Clover 5K. Held at the Franklin County Fairgrounds, we are excited to welcome any one with a passion for giving back to their community. This year, Franklin County 4-H Clubs have adopted 15 non-profit organizations through central Ohio to provide a community service project that will benefit their work in the community. Organizations such as Project Linus, Blue Star Mothers, MASH Food Pantry, Clintonville Beechwold Community Resource Center, and many more will receive items made by visitors during the event. April 15 is Earth Day and we are excited to share that we are partnering with Go Green Hilliard to celebrate during the Walk & Serve and Clover 5K event. We hope that you will join us on Saturday, April 15, from 9:30-Noon to give back to our community!
