Home Buyer Success

“I never thought this would happen to me. I waited years to make this dream come true and now that it has come true, I am so happy to have a place to call home! Thank you for helping with my down payment and the financial advice in the process!” Deanna M

“I am a new homeowner! I started about two years ago with a credit score of 450. I was told I wouldn’t be able to buy a house for at least five years. So, I signed up with OSU Home Buyer Education classes and received one-on-one counseling. I embraced the education and the Client Action Plan. I got my credit score up to 690 within two years, then got preapproved for a home. I never gave up. So many tears and sleepless nights but I knew in the end my efforts would be rewarding. Thank you to OSU Extension for the education and for helping me to understand things I never thought I would.”

Misty S.

“"We just closed today, super excited! We worked

with Clyde Owens from First

Commonwealth Bank.

You said it was doable before

the summer and we did it.

T hank you so much for your

knowledge and support. It has

really made this process a lot

easier and made us more

aware of credit and how to

obtain the goals we have

mapped out for our family."

Nicki and Brandon B.

Reduce Food Waste, Save Money

Family and Consumer Sciences Educator, Jenny Lobb, had the opportunity to speak with Sean McDonnell of cleveland.com recently about food waste. She shared that her number one piece of advice for avoiding food waste is to start meal planning. She said we often buy excess food which ends up going to waste. Meal planning and sticking to you grocery list when shopping is a great way to reduce waste. You may read the complete article here.

Family and Consumer Sciences Educator, Jenny Lobb, and Dietetic Intern, Julie Weinberg, had a great time teaching Instant Pot classes at the Bexley Library and Westerville Library. Check out our events calendar for upcoming classes.
