Update on PAM Studios 'Grand Opening Events to Take Place During RIFF'
PAM Studios Founder and CEO Maria Guerra-Stoll in front of the PAM Studios entrance
We are excited to announce that PAM Studios has officially opened for business and will host its Grand Opening events during the Rome International Film Festival (RIFF), Nov. 11-14.

GSB was the lead architect on this facility. This is the first of PAM’s satellite studios of several planned throughout the state. Located at 510 Broad Street, the 6,455 square-foot facility is in historic downtown Rome. The recently renovated historic, two-story building in downtown Rome offers unique production and office space with two sound studios. PAM is kicking off several production partnerships during the Rome International Film Festival and we wish them great success!

What's Happening at GSB...
GSB Architects is Designing KAT-5 Studios, the First Sustainable Sound Stage Complex
GSB is proud to reveal we have been named the official architectural partner for the design of KAT-5 Studios. Based in Savannah, this will become the first purpose built production studio and first-ever sustainable studio partially powered by solar panels, constructed for production with high ceilings and high acoustical performance. The sound stage is a part of an investment in Savannah’s growing film and television industry.

“GSB Architects is honored to represent a number of new entertainment studio projects across the country,” said Founder and CEO of GSB Architects Maria Guerra-Stoll. “We especially look forward to introducing the innovative, purpose-driven KAT-5 Studios to Savannah to further serve the needs of local filmmakers, and support the local film business ecosystem.”

The 130,000 square-foot production facility in West Chatham County is located at 2332 Fort Argyle Road. The official groundbreaking ceremony is set to take place in October 2021 and the studio is slated to open in December 2022 with plans for continuous expansions over the next three to five years.

Hispanic Heritage Month Architecture Spotlight
In honor of Hispanic Heritage Month, we are sharing a spotlight on the history of Hispanic and Latin influence in U.S. architectural designs.

Bold, brilliant colors are used to create strong contrasts then and now in the New Mexico, California and Southwest region. There was no single “missions style” of decoration in California - European, Mexican, and Indian influences were intermingled everywhere then and now.

Elaborately designed church windows with floral painting was a common characteristic of missions in the Southwest and has directly permeated the church landscape in the U.S. Typically, most vineyards in the U.S. often have intricately designed borders around large wooden doors, or around the borders of various rooms as a homage to various hunting or tribal scenes. The use of intricate patterns and solid materials has permeated the design and architecture sphere of the Southwest to this day.
