#1. Worship This Week
This Sunday, May 15, 2022, at 9:15 am and 11:00 am
Sermon Series: "Dear Church"
This Week's Sermon: A Word of Wisdom by Pastor Jeremy Lawson
Scripture: James 1:19-25 (NIV)

One of the first things you notice when you read the Letter of James is that it’s chock full of pastoral wisdom. That’s because what James wanted his congregation to understand is how to live out their Christian faith in real and practical ways. So, what about when we find ourselves in the midst of an argument or debate? As Christians, how do we love our neighbors even when we disagree with them? Today, we’ll look at some of the most powerful advice James has to offer: Be quick to listen, slow to speak, and slow to anger.

Both our 9:15 am and 11:00 am services will also be available via live stream. You can find us at hmumc.org/live, YouTube, or Facebook Live.

We look forward to seeing you then!

#8. Farewell to the Lawson Family
Join Us As We Wish the Lawsons Farewell
Sunday, June 5th Between Services

Let's gather together to thank the Lawson family as they make the transition to Athens First United Methodist Church. Pastor Jeremy's last sermon will be on Sunday, June 5th so we will recognize and celebrate them that day. We will have light refreshments and an opportunity to visit with them and leave them words of encouragement and remembrance as they make the transition.

Additionally, we are taking up a Love Offering for the Lawson family starting today through Monday, June 6th. You can make a non-deductible offering to them by writing "Lawson Family" on the memo line of your check, indicating "Lawson Family" on the offering envelope, or give online and selecting "Staff Gift/Love Offering" when indicating a fund.

We appreciate everything you continue to do to support and love on Pastor Jeremy during his final weeks with us at HMUMC.

#9. Get to Know Pastor Wendy
Get to Know The Reverend Dr. Wendy Jones

As you know, Pastor Jeremy and his family will be transitioning to Athens First United Methodist Church in July. We will be welcoming Dr. Wendy Jones and her family to HMUMC on Sunday, July 10th.

Our team is hard at work making sure both Pastor Jeremy and Pastor Wendy go through a smooth transition. We hope everyone will come to celebrate Pastor Jeremy and his family on Sunday, June 5th.

In the meantime, we want HMUMC to get to know more about Wendy and her family. Each week in May, we will be sharing some "fun facts" about Pastor Wendy.

If Pastor Wendy could spend a day doing what she loves most, she would spend it reading and hanging out with friends and family at the beach! She also loves watching her daughter Iliana play volleyball!

Her favorite part of ministry is the people! She loves helping people experience God’s love. She loves standing with and for people - as we follow Jesus. She loves helping people participate in their relationship with God and seeing them grow.

She also loves preaching and proclaiming God’s word. And she loves walking with others - as they grow into the person and the purpose for which God created them!

She is so looking forward to getting to know the people of HMUMC and partnering with the staff, leaders, and congregation to do life and ministry together so that Jesus might be made known to those who are hurting.
She is passionate about sharing and proclaiming the good news of Jesus because Jesus has been so good to her.

Look for more insight in the coming weeks in the weekly Top Tens as we get a chance to get to learn more about Wendy and her family! We can’t wait to welcome them to HMUMC!
