#1. Worship This Week
New Sermon Series: Courageous Faith
From the earliest days of his life in Nazareth to his final journey to the cross on Calvary, Jesus was the ultimate model of what it means to have courage in the midst of uncertainty.

Join us starting Sunday, January 9th, for our all-new sermon series, “Courageous Faith.” Together, we’ll take an in-depth look at the life of Jesus--from his baptism to his temptation in the wilderness and beyond—and discover how we can live and lead a life of courage and faith in the new year.

This Sunday, January 16, 2022, at 9:15 am and 11:00 am
This week's sermon: Holy Audacity
Scripture:  Luke 4:14-30

For most of us, it’s not uncommon to experience a challenging season of life and come out the other side feeling deflated. And yet when Jesus emerged from his 40-day temptation in the wilderness, Luke notes he wasn’t discouraged or exhausted but instead was energized and excited. In fact, he says that Jesus returned “filled with the Holy Spirit” and preached a daring—and even dangerous--first sermon. So what’s the secret to having a daring faith? Today, we’ll look at having the holy audacity to speak up even when others want you to sit down.

#2. Best Practices for Livestream
What are the best ways to livestream HMUMC each week?

Have you heard the good news? After several weeks of unexpected disruptions to the church’s internet service that knocked our services off-line, our Sunday morning livestream is officially back up and running at full capacity!

Of course, we have a number of different livestream options and channels for you to use on Sunday mornings. So, what livestream options give you the best quality experience?

If you want the best possible livestream on Sunday mornings, our HMUMC Tech Team highly recommends using any of the following options:

Facebook Live has been one of our most popular streaming platforms, however, it’s also been the most consistently glitchy. Unfortunately, these are glitches that we don’t have any control over because it’s an issue with Facebook’s website, not our livestream. We’ll continue to report any issues to Facebook and hopefully, we’ll see improvement in the future.

Over the next several weeks, you’ll notice a number of new upgrades and enhancements to our worship livestream—including the ability to interact with other worshipers via our website livestream, so stay tuned!

In the meantime, know that we’re always wanting the best possible worship experience for all of our online worshipers, so please don’t hesitate to let us know how we can improve our livestream worship experience.

Be sure to bookmark these pages to view our worship services every Sunday! "See" you then!

Wednesday Nights with Pastor Jeremy
Starts Wednesday, January 26th at 6:30
Available In-Person or via Livestream

If you ever wanted a gospel that gets right to the point, look no further than the Gospel of Mark. Written in the mid-to-late 60’s AD, the Gospel of Mark doesn’t include details about Jesus’ life like the Christmas story, his genealogy, or lengthy teachings like the Sermon on the Mount. The reason why is because Mark has one goal: To get the reader to the good news of Easter Sunday as quickly as possible.

Starting Wednesday, January 26th, join Pastor Jeremy for an in-depth study of one of the most unique books in the entire Bible: The Gospel of Mark. This class will meet in person in the Worship Center on Wednesdays starting at 6:30 pm. It’ll also be livestreamed on Facebook Live for those who are unable to attend in person.

Pandemic Parenting Seminar
Wednesday, February 2nd at 6:30 pm

Join us for a special one-night event as a panel of counselors and other experts help get parents, caregivers, and others through this new era of parenting. They can answer the tough questions and give expert advice on how best to stay ahead in this tough parenting world.

Then on February 9th, our small groups for parents will be available. This is a great way to connect and share with other parents and learn from our volunteer leaders. You can connect with other parents in similar age groups to learn from and grow with one another.

We sure hope you will join us for this very special opportunity to learn from others - know you're not alone!

Registration is strongly encouraged so we have enough space and more importantly, we can get your questions to our panelists prior to the event on the 2nd.

Grief Share
Wednesday Nights from 6:30 pm - 7:45 pm starting January 26th
Register at hmumc.org/grow

For many, working through the emotional and practical challenges that bereavement thrusts upon us is challenging and healing happens when we surround ourselves with others who understand what we are going through. And sometimes, the greatest healing comes from being there for someone else.

Grief Share is a 13-week small group series designed to help people begin the healing process in the aftermath of losing a loved one. You won’t be put under any obligation to talk if you don’t feel like talking, or to pray out loud, or anything like that. GriefShare is designed to provide a non-threatening, supportive and informative environment for all who participate so that the members of the group can draw encouragement and strength from one another.

David and Melanie Hutto will be leading our upcoming GriefShare class at Hamilton Mill United Methodist Church, and they would love to have you join them and the rest of the group.

You can sign up at hmumc.org/grow or email Pastor Jason at [email protected] to reserve a spot, or to ask any questions you might have about the class.
