#1. Worship This Week

This Sunday, September 25th at 9:15 am and 11:00 am

This Week's Sermon:

The Thankful Leper: A Story of Gratitude

by Pastor Wendy Jones

Scripture: Luke 17:11-19 & Mark 1:40-45

When we experience and come to know the love of Jesus – it changes us in ways we could never change ourselves. As people who have been transformed by Jesus – how can we not express our gratitude? When we return to Jesus with thankful hearts, we will discover this too is transformational.

Both services will also be available via live stream. You can find us at hmumc.org/live, YouTube, or Facebook Live.

We look forward to seeing you then!

Pastor Wendy's Wednesday Night Class:

Spiritual Transformation: Practices that Change Us

Class Meets in the Worship Center

Every Wednesday through October 5th from 6:30 - 7:45 pm

When we say "yes" to Jesus, we experience an immediate transformation - we are made new! But that is just the beginning! As followers of Jesus, we get to live in an everyday relationship with God. It is through this relationship that God loves, grows, forgives, heals, shapes, and transforms us. If we want to experience more of God's transforming power in our lives we have to intentionally spend time with God. We do this in and through the regular practices of our faith. In this Wednesday night study, we will learn more about these ancient practices, we will try some of them out together and on our own during the week. Come join us!

#3. SAS Model Update

Thank you to everyone who participated in our church-wide Simplified Accountable Structure vote this past Sunday. HMUMC voted favorably to adopt the resolution to move to the Simplified Accountability Structure!

Thank you for all of the great dialog, discernment, and questions that you've had to help us truly determine if this model makes sense for our church.

We want to say a special word of thanks to our fantastic Discerning Committee that worked hard, and spent many hours researching, presenting, praying, and advocating for this model. They are:

  • Tara Zaleski
  • Tommy White
  • Beverly Neville
  • Chris Brown
  • Carrie Smola

Thank you, team!

Our Administrative Council meets again next Tuesday, September 27th to talk through the next steps in our SAS journey and will be sharing that information with the church in the coming weeks. Thank you all again for your dedication and support of HMUMC!

#4. Sunday Morning Grow

Now is a great time to join an Adult Sunday School Class!
Adult Sunday School Classes meet every Sunday at 9:15 am
Learn more at hmumc.org/grow

We have several Adult Sunday School Classes that are in the process of starting a new study or getting back together again! Each class offers a different perspective and class of study depending on what you're looking for.

Here's some high-level info but be sure to visit hmumc.org/grow to learn more!

  • The Way: This class brings together people from many different backgrounds who want to grow spiritually, connect with each other, and care for the community. They are currently studying “Half Truths” by Adam Hamilton.
  • The Builders: This multi-generational class loves connecting faith and scripture with everything going on in the world. They are starting a new study on The Book of Ruth.
  • The Seekers: Join this mission-minded and supportive group of adults who build relationships with each other while studying the Bible. They are diving into Adam Hamilton’s “Words of Life” focusing on the Ten Commandments.
  • Women of Faith: This group of seasoned ladies seeks to grow through Bible study, fellowship, and prayer. They are excited to begin a new curriculum called “Transform” that will take us on a study of how to be a faithful and supportive community of disciples.
  • Solomon’s Porch: This empty nesters and beyond class enjoys coming together and having fun while growing in faith.

#5. The Pantry

The PANTRY NEEDS YOU!

Please consider signing up for SATURDAY MORNINGS!

We continue to see sustained growth at the Pantry and continue to serve close to 550-600 families each week and unfortunately, our volunteer count continues to decline. Our regular volunteers are overworked and exhausted. We NEED YOU! If you've even thought about giving us a few hours on a Saturday morning, now is the time!

We promise you will have fun serving others AND it only takes a few hours on a Saturday morning so you can enjoy the rest of your day. The time is minimal but the reward is GREAT!

You can learn more about the Pantry and sign up for all volunteer spots here!
