#1. Worship This Week
This Sunday, June 26th, 2022, at 9:15 am and 11:00 am
Sermon Series: "By The Water"
This Week's Sermon: It's Not That Simple
by Pastor Natalee Dukes Hamby

We often like to escape to the seashore to put our toes in the sand and to let the worries of the world slip away, but it’s not always that simple. In fact, the worries of this world seem to find us wherever we go, even on summer vacation. This experience isn’t new; in fact, it’s a time-honored tradition to worry. We worry about our children, our jobs, our friends, our futures, and that’s just before breakfast! Together we’ll take an opportunity to pause, to breathe in the soft breeze of the Sea of Galilee, and hear the words of Jesus speaking to us at the point of our deepest need. What do we do when it’s just not that simple?

Both our 9:15 am and 11:00 am services will also be available via live stream. You can find us at hmumc.org/live, YouTube, or Facebook Live.

We look forward to seeing you then!
#2. July 3rd One Service at 10 am
Join us for a Special Independence Day Service
Sunday, July 3rd at 10:00 am

We are planning a special service on Sunday, July 3rd at 10:00 am where everyone will gather in the worship center and hear a short message and sing familiar patriotic songs. On this Independence Day weekend, we will celebrate our freedom in the United States of America and our freedom in Christ through the eyes of a Blind Man by hearing from John 9:1-8 (NIV).

Wear your red, white, and blue and join in the festivities. Make note that on July 3rd there is only this one service at 10:00 am. It will be available both in-person and online. The nursery will also be available for babies and children up to Pre-K.

#3. The Pantry
Please consider signing up for SATURDAY MORNINGS!

We continue to see sustained growth at the Pantry and continue to serve close to 550-600 families each week and unfortunately, our volunteer count continues to decline. Our regular volunteers are overworked and exhausted. We NEED YOU! If you've even thought about giving us a few hours on a Saturday morning, now is the time!

We promise you will have fun serving others AND it only takes a few hours on a Saturday morning so you can enjoy the rest of your day. The time is minimal but the reward is GREAT!

#4. New Website for SAS Model
NOW ADDED: A webpage for all your Simplified Accountable Structure (SAS Model) Questions and Answers

In the United Methodist Church (UMC), we historically have four administrative committees that care for the "business" of the church. If you didn't know, HMUMC typically has approximately 50 volunteers serving across these four committees and involves many hours of meetings throughout the year.

The latest book of UMC Discipline allows churches the opportunity to restructure their lay leadership in order to be more missionally focused. Hundreds of churches have now moved to a more simplified, accountable structure model where the shift is focused on serving in mission and ministry rather than serving in hours of meetings. HMUMC is now looking into this model for lay leadership and governance.

Thank you to everyone that joined us for the overview meetings.

For those that couldn't join and want to learn more, you can visit hmumc.org/sas

#8. Join the Choir
Come Join the Summer Choir!

If you are at a place where you would like to come and sing each Sunday, this is the perfect time because we’re officially in Summer Choir Season. What does that mean you may ask? Well, it means we are only rehearsing for worship on Sunday mornings. There are no Tuesday evening rehearsals during Summer Choir Season and we only wear choir robes on Communion Sundays.

We gather in the Choir Room on Sunday at 10:15 a.m. to rehearse the music that we’re going to sing that morning in the 11:00 worship. And after we have that music prepared, we get a sneak peek and a quick rehearsal of the anthem for the following Sunday.
We welcome singers of all kinds! We have singers who have never sung in a choir before. We also have singers who are making, or who made, their livings as musicians. We have singers who only feel comfortable singing when they have a strong singer next to them. The point is, that we have a place for you in our choir, and it’s a great place to be.

We want you there with us. Come sing with us this Sunday at 10:15 am.
For more information please contact Pastor Mark Locke at mark.locke@hmumc.org.
