#1. Worship This Week
This Sunday, August 7th, 2022, at 9:15 am and 11:00 am
NEW Sermon Series: "All In: Doing Life and Ministry Together"

As followers of Jesus, our mission is to make disciples for the transformation of the world. This mission requires us to be “all in”. At HMUMC, this means all of us are needed and we each need to be “all in” as in giving our all so that others can know the love of Jesus. We are all in when we ALL gather, grow, go, and give!

During this five-week series, we will be looking at the book of Acts as the early church teaches us how to do life and ministry together. The early church models for us what it looks like to participate in our relationship with God and one another, in ways that facilitate transformation and growth – in us and through us.
This Week's Sermon: Gather in Worship
by Pastor Wendy Jones
Scripture: Acts 2:41-47 (NLT)

There are some things that just can’t be done alone. Imagine a baseball or basketball game with only one player. Or a television show with only one actor. Or a family reunion with only one family member in attendance. Imagine a worship service at Hamilton Mill with one member present.

An invitation from Jesus, to follow Jesus is an invitation to do life and ministry like Jesus, in community. We gather to encourage, support and pray for one another. We gather for renewal and guidance. We gather to remember and celebrate God’s goodness. We gather to worship God.

Both services will also be available via live stream. You can find us at hmumc.org/live, YouTube, or Facebook Live.

We look forward to seeing you then!

Name of Study: 2nd Samuel by John MacArthur

David is known as Israel's greatest king, but he was not a superhero. In fact, he had to fight many battles to establish his throne, and when he did become king, things just got messier and messier. David depended on God's grace for forgiveness when he stumbled - that same grace is available to us today. Join us as we discover the historical and theological perspectives of the story of David through the lens of 2nd Samuel.

Tuesday Morning Women's Study
Tuesdays at 10:00 am starting September 6th - December 6th
Name of Study:Twelve Women of the Bible: Life-Changing Stories for Women Today
Leader: Beth Summerford
Cost: $14 for the book
Together we will look at the spiritual lessons learned from twelve biblical women and the implications for our lives today. We'll walk the paths of women like Rebekah, Leah, Gomer, Mary Magdalene, and so many more.
Nursery Care will be available. Please indicate you need nursery care when registering.

Here's some high-level info but be sure to visit hmumc.org/grow to learn more!

  • The Way: This class brings together people from many different backgrounds who want to grow spiritually, connect with each other, and care for the community. They are currently studying “Half Truths” by Adam Hamilton.
  • The Builders: This multi-generational class loves connecting faith and scripture with everything going on in the world. They are starting a new study on The Book of Ruth.
  • The Seekers: Join this mission-minded and supportive group of adults who build relationships with each other while studying the Bible. They are diving into Adam Hamilton’s “Words of Life” focusing on the Ten Commandments.
  • Women of Faith: This group of seasoned ladies seeks to grow through Bible study, fellowship, and prayer. They are excited to begin a new curriculum called “Transform” that will take us on a study of how to be a faithful and supportive community of disciples.
  • Solomon’s Porch: This empty nesters and beyond class enjoys coming together and having fun while growing in faith.

#3. The Pantry
Please consider signing up for SATURDAY MORNINGS!

We continue to see sustained growth at the Pantry and continue to serve close to 550-600 families each week and unfortunately, our volunteer count continues to decline. Our regular volunteers are overworked and exhausted. We NEED YOU! If you've even thought about giving us a few hours on a Saturday morning, now is the time!

We promise you will have fun serving others AND it only takes a few hours on a Saturday morning so you can enjoy the rest of your day. The time is minimal but the reward is GREAT!

#4. Women's Day Together
Join the HMUMC Women's Ministry for a Prayer Bead Worship
Saturday, August 13th from 11:00 am - 2:00 pm
Registration deadline is Monday, August 8th
Cost is $12 for the first set of beads

Join us as author, speaker, and prayer artisan Kristen Vincent returns to HMUMC to talk to us about the power of prayer and how they help enrich our journey with faith and God.

We will also have the opportunity to make our own prayer beads (they are beautiful). A light lunch will be served. This is a great way to meet more people in our congregation! We also encourage parents and children to come together as well! Anyone 10 and older can attend (children need to have an adult present)

The first set of beads costs $12 and each additional set is $8. You will be asked how many sets you would like to make when you register.

We look forward to seeing you then!
