Special Holiday Grief Group – 11/24

Holidays can be hard after the loss of a loved one, no matter how long they have been gone. If the Thanksgiving and Christmas season is difficult for you, or if you have lost someone special this year, you may be dreading the upcoming season. If so, Heather Notske wants to give you hope and a plan to make it through. Join her Monday, November 24, from 1--2:30 PM in Room 6 to discuss ways to take care of yourself, create new traditions, and still honor the memory of your loved one this winter.

Advent Poinsettias

Orders due by Sunday, 11/30

In past years, people have purchased poinsettias in honor or memory of loved ones to help decorate our sanctuary for the holidays. This has required a lot of hands-on care: watering, cleaning up dead leaves, rotating plants to put their best sides to the front, and maintaining the perfect temperature in the sanctuary to keep these fussy plants alive. The worship committee has made the decision to start purchasing quality, artificial poinsettias that can be used year after year without all of the stress and mess of live plants. To help cover this cost, this year and next year we will continue to have people "sponsor" a plant. If you would like to donate toward the Poinsettia Fund in honor or memory of a loved one, grab a form from the information center or the church office. Please return the completed envelope with payment ($15) in the offering plate or to a staff member by Sunday,

November 30 to have your tribute printed in the

bulletin for Sunday, December 7.  

November Wednesday Morning Bible Studies

11/19: Pastor Katie will lead us in an exploration of prayer practices. Prayer is foundational to our journey of faith, and throughout the history of the church disciples have engaged in a variety of ways of praying. Come learn about how to expand and enhance your prayer practices. Wednesday morning at 9:30 AM in the Skylight Room.

Volunteers Needed for St. Ann’s Lunch on 11/30 Please

For over 40 years, St. Ann's Catholic Church in the East Central neighborhood has provided a weekly lunch for people in need. Hamblen has partnered with Spokane Valley United Methodist to provide lunch every seven weeks at 1pm. What Hamblen needs is two volunteers from 10:40-2pm on November 30 to cook/serve/cleanup at 2120 E. First Ave. We also provide six dozen desserts (cookies, cupcakes, brownies, etc.), so we'd like 3 volunteers to deliver 2 dozen treats each. Call Dia with questions: 509-389-9858. Liberty Park Community Development Center’s Annual Toy Store

Toy Donations Due by Sunday, 12/7

Tis the season! It may only be early November, but it is time to start thinking about the Liberty Park Toy Store drive! Let’s take our thankfulness and pay it forward. There are 3 ways to participate:

2. Grab a tab from the display in the narthex to purchase specific toys. 

3. Make monetary donations earmarked for the “toy store”

Drop your UNWRAPPED toys in the bins in the narthex. The deadline for drop off is Sunday, December 7. (The date of the Toy Store this year is Sunday, 12/13.) Thank you for your support to help these local kids!

NEXT GEN MINISTRIES

The focus of Next Gen Ministries at HPPC is on families. Mitchel Pierce, Director of Next Gen Ministries, organizes activities, plan events, teach, share, and invest in our students.

Children’s & Family Ministries

Children's Sunday School (3-yrs - 5th Grade)

Sunday School is right after the Children’s Sermon during most worship services throughout the school year. Each week, children aged 3 years through 5th grade will gather for Bible lessons. We have fun activities, skits, and wonderful messages planned!

Kids' Zone (3-yrs - 1st Grade)

On mornings with no Sunday School, and every Sunday during the summer, children 3yrs-1st grade are invited to the Skylight Room for fun activities. Kids 2nd grade and up remain in the worship service with their families. 

Journey Kids' Club (1st-5th Grade)

Journey Kids' Club meets Wednesdays, 5:00-7:00 PM, October--May. We are so excited to spend time playing games, eating food, and learning more about God in this really wonderful time together! A weekly donation of $5 is suggested to help support the cost of dinner. You are encouraged to bring a friend!

Youth Ministries (6th-12th Grades)
