VBS took over the building at Hamblen Park Presbyterian Church this past week! We had a cool and fun VBS. Over 70 kids participated from as far away as Deer Park. About two thirds of the children attending VBS were new faces from the community that we were excited to welcome! Over 50 of your friends from HPPC and other churches from the area volunteered their week to give the kids an encounter with Moses. Thank you so much to all the volunteers for helping to bring this ministry to the children of our community!

Listening for God: a Short-Story Discussion Series
"Listening for God in the Skylight Room" starts Wednesday, July 14, at 9:30 AM, and meets weekly through August 25. This year we will be meeting at HPPC instead of the park so that we have access to bathrooms, shade, and air conditioning.
This popular short-story discussion series is a chance for fellowship during the summer months. Everyone is welcome. If you can only attend a few times, that is OK! Come when you can! Packets including each week's short story are available at the church on the table located outside the office. This year's facilitators are Mike Aleman, Andrea Reid, and Matt Garvin. Questions? Contact Mike Aleman at 509-448-1703 or mpa1942wy@comcast.net.

Retirement Ministry
Hamblen Retirement Ministry has been invited back to Moran Vista Retirement Home to begin a worship service again. The service is held on the 3rd Sunday of the month from 2 to 3 PM. We would like to invite new members to participate with us. We need song leaders, pianists for hymns, and persons to lead, which involves a message or mini-sermon. Our main need at this time is for leaders and pianists.

Oasis Mission Week 2021
Monday, July 19th through Wednesday, July 21st
We’re so excited to provide an opportunity for our students to serve and engage in justice work this summer! This past year and a half has resulted in unprecedented challenges all over the world, including here at home, and we’re so excited to dive into a mission opportunity right here in Spokane. We’ll be providing a three-day, two-night experience for our outgoing 9th-12th graders, during which we’ll stay at the church, serve diverse local ministries together, and explore how God’s calling us towards justice this week and beyond. For more information, contact Mitchel Pierce, Director of Student Ministries, at mitchelp@hamblenpres.org.

Oasis Backpacking Trip
Friday, August 20th through Monday, August 23rd
This summer our high schoolers have the opportunity to explore the Wallowas in Eastern Oregon as we backpack, camp, and bask in the beauty of creation on this four-day trip. For both the backpacking connoisseur and those wanting to dive in for the first time, Peak 7 is hosting this trip and providing transportation from Spokane, training, and any supplies that students can’t provide themselves. For more information, contact Mitchel Pierce, Director of Student Ministries, at mitchelp@hamblenpres.org.

Camp Spalding
Through their Christian summer camp programs, Camp Spalding provides a chance for thousands of young people from greater Spokane and North Idaho to get away from the daily routine, spend a week with an outstanding, fun staff of mature role models, and experience the adventurous life God intends for us. Sessions begin at the end of June and are offered during various dates throughout the summer. Once again, our Deacons are providing a 50% scholarship for any student attending. Prior to registering, obtain a Scholarship Code from Sandy Riebe at sandyr@hamblenpres.org. You can view this year’s Camp Spalding schedule and register using the Scholarship Code at campspalding.org.
