THIS WEEK'S NEWS

All-Church Brunch, September 13

Join the kickoff brunch following worship on September 13. The deacons will provide baked oatmeal squares in sheet pans with toppings. You can help by bringing something to share. Suggestions are based on the first letter of your last name:

A - M: Brunch main foods

Such as quiche, bagels, rolls, biscuits, potatoes, sausages, breakfast casseroles, vegetable platters, yogurt

N - Z: Brunch sides

Such as fruit, sweets, pastries, cinnamon rolls, French toast casserole, donuts

Juice, water and coffee will be provided. Extension cords will be available for crockpots (to keep things warm during service). The microwave will also be available. See you there!

Top of the Hill, September 8

Join us on Tuesday, September 8 as we hear from Hanna Koval. Hanna will share about her experiences as a Ukrainian refugee, including how her faith helped her endure the loss of everything due to the war. Since coming to Spokane, Hanna and her daughter have worked with the Thrive Center, a local nonprofit that serves refugees in our community. She is also employed at Elements Massage, which is owned by Steve and Linda Sparks. We’ll hear Hanna’s powerful story after lunch at 11:30 in the Skylight Room. $10 suggested donation covers the cost of lunch. Sign up at the info table or by calling the church office by Sunday, September 6.

65 Years of Marriage!

Karl and Ione Felgenhauer are celebrating their 65th wedding anniversary and invite you to join them. The party will be on Saturday, September 12, at 2 PM in the Fellowship Hall.

Park Meet Ups Ending for the Season

As fall approaches, our summer meet ups at the park must come to an end. Join in the conversation at this season’s LAST informal meet-up at the Park Bench Café in Manito Park on Wednesday, September 2 at

10 AM. Enjoy a treat in a beautiful setting with others from HPPC. Questions? Contact Ione Felgenhauer, kifelgen@gmail.com.

Come Sing with the Choir!

Do you love to sing? Then we have a place for you! The Chancel Choir starts again this September and sings through mid-June. Even if you can’t commit to the entire program year, come sing with us on weeks that you are able. Rehearsals are on Thursdays, 6:30-8 PM in the sanctuary, and we gather at 9 AM on Sunday mornings (half hour prior to worship). Childcare is provided. Contact Kyla Fague at 509-270-6848 or kylaf@hamblenpres.org for more information or if you are interested in joining this great community. We begin rehearsing on Thursday, September 10. The choir’s first Sunday in worship will be September 13. We hope to see you in the choir loft!

HPPC Mission Study Available

Printed copies of the Mission Study are available for pick up at the info table in the narthex. This document is being submitted for presbytery approval so we can take the next step in searching for a new pastor! To learn more, pick up a copy Sunday morning.

Ways to Help Those Affected by Spokane Area Fires

OR

• You can donate to HPPC online or through the offering plate and we will forward it to the presbytery office.

• Send a check directly to Presbytery of the Inland NW; PO Box 8055; Spokane, WA 99203.

Help Us Create a Calendar

The Earth Care Team is putting together a calendar, and we need your help! We would love to include pictures of you or other church family members caring for or enjoying nature! For example, river or neighborhood clean-ups; bins for sorting refuse; composting - so many different ways! We also would love you to submit your tips or processes you use to Reduce, Reuse, Recycle. Anything that helps the Earth!

Submit your photos and tips to: allan.scruggs@gmail.com or by clicking the link below. Thanks!

Earth Care Tip of the Week

Use and reuse the same natural fiber dryer balls 1,000-plus times instead of single-use, chemical-laden dryer sheets. Think of the difference for your wallet, your health, and the landfill.

Got Space?

Do you have space in a garage, basement or shed? We need some storage for things for the November 14 Holiday Treasure Market. Contact Janet Ray at (509) 993-2000 if you can help. Thanks!
