THIS WEEK'S NEWS

What's Happening in Children's Ministry at HPPC

We will be presenting bibles to our third grade students THIS Sunday, January 22, 2023. For the following three weeks during Sunday School there will be special classes for grades 2-5 focused on different aspects of Christian faith.

  • The 2nd graders will be studying the different elements of the worship service and discussing communion. They will finish their unit by baking communion bread together to take home.
  • The 3rd grade students will be learning to navigate their new Bibles, and talk about the way the Bible is laid out.
  • The 4th graders will be learning the Lord’s Prayer and discussing how Jesus’ example informs our own prayers.
  • The 5th grade students will be studying both the Ten Commandments and the Apostles Creed.

This will be a very important set of lessons for these students, and we hope that your child in one of these grades is able to come all three weeks! Please contact Cindy Dicken with questions at [email protected].

The Podcast Discussion Group: "Hear, Here"

Continues at Thomas Hammer

Join us at the Thomas Hammer coffee shop on South Grand where we will discuss one podcast each week during this 6-week series. We’ll hear from journalists, faith leaders, physicians, and writers -- all people seeking to be authentically human in a messy world. We will give you links to the podcast the week before each discussion so you can listen at your convenience. Come for one or all of the series!

Oasis Connect Retreat This Weekend

January 20th-22nd marks our yearly high school winter retreat to Tall Timber! This retreat is all about connection and community—both what a healthy Christian community looks like, as well as what it means to be an active part of that kind of community! This retreat ideally leads into a time for students to discern what it looks like to commit to this church.

OPPORTUNITIES TO GET INVOLVED

Join Choir in the New Year!

The new year is a great time to join the Chancel Choir community! We are a fun, caring group that is eager to welcome you! We rehearse on Thursday nights from 7:00-8:30, and childcare is available by request. Contact Kyla Fague at [email protected] for more information.

Opportunities to Serve at HPPC & in the Community

Visit our website at hamblenpres.org/getinvolved to check out a list of ways to get involved at HPPC and grow as a disciple of Jesus. You will find 10 different categories along with a few examples of things that fit in each category. In front of each category is a checkbox. If you think you would like to try out a new ministry, print the list, check the box(es) of the categories that interest you, return it to the office, and we will contact you when we have a need for volunteers. Thank you for serving with us!

Join the Snow Patrol

Colder weather is upon us! Our parking lot gets plowed when it snows, but we depend on volunteers to keep our walkways safe and clear of snow during the winter. If you would like to sign up in advance for a specific day that you would be willing to snowblow our sidewalks, we would love to hear from you! We have a snowblower, shovels, and de-icer. Training can be provided! Sign up for one day this season or volunteer for multiple days--your choice! If interested, contact Heather Notske at 509-385-0627 or [email protected] or sign up online HERE.

Portable Projects

Are you seeking a place to work on your project in the community of others? Bring your project each Thursday 9:00 – 11:00 a.m. to the Skylight Room and join like-minded crafters.

Sanctuary Flowers for 2023

A poster is now available on a bulletin board in the east hallway to sign up for providing flowers for worship services. Instructions can be found next to the poster for those who are interested in helping to add beauty to the sanctuary or would like to honor someone by providing flowers in memory of a loved one. Thank you!
