This Sunday, We Welcome Rev. Dr. Daniel White
as our Interim Pastor and Head of Staff
Let's get to know Pastor Daniel together!
Rev. Dr. Daniel Scott White
In 35 years of ministry Daniel has served congregations in California, New Jersey, Illinois and
Washington. Along the way he has been a vocalist, worship leader, educator, football coach,
speaker and author.
Daniel is an active member of the Presbytery of the Inland Northwest, recently concluding
twelve years as the Pastor and Head of Staff at the Whitworth Community Presbyterian Church.
He also works with congregations, Christian organizations and their leaders as a leadership
consultant.
In college Daniel fell in love with his wife, Lisha, who holds MA and MS degrees and works at
Whitworth University. Together they are the parents of four young adult children who are
studying in various college and graduate institutions. After 26 years with kids at home, they are
thriving as empty nesters.
Daniel is a foodie and an out-of-shape outdoor adventurer. If he was not a pastor, he would
pursue a career as a plus-size model or a fishing guide.

Earth Care News
The Hamblen Earth Care Team is currently focusing on waste reduction. We are already reducing waste by using porcelain cups in coffee hour and non-disposables at youth meals and other church events.
A new action is the addition of a water cooler in the Skylight Room to encourage everyone to bring their water bottles to church and refill them at this handy Hydration Station. This will eliminate the waste of paper cups and plastic bottles. To promote this eco-healthy habit, we are offering HPPC logo stainless steel water bottles, beginning Sunday, February 8 after worship. Don't miss out on this exclusive opportunity to show your commitment to creation care. Limited quantity. Suggested donation of $20 each.
In addition to the new water cooler in the Skylight Room, the Earth Care team is launching a composting effort that began at the Soup Supper with the use of compostable bowls. We will have a green bin outside and a garbage can in the kitchen for compostable items from the kitchen. Think coffee grounds, pizza boxes, etc. Instructions on what is and isn't compostable will be posted on the can. If you have questions or want to join the team, ask Allan Scruggs, chair of the Earth Care Team. The Earth Care Team is a sub-committee of the Adult Ed Committee, which is funding these initiatives.

THANK YOU
from Liberty Park Community Development Center
Dear Gladys Rivers, Karen Kelly, Selina Slater, Mary Nofsinger and Linda Frank
(I sincerely hope I've included everyone here - thank you to all the "elves" who set up the Toy Store). I don't have Mary or Linda's emails so please forward to them.
Thank you all so very much for once again putting on a fabulous Toy Store for residents of Liberty Park Apartments and neighborhood families on December 13, 2025. This thank you is of course, to the whole congregation of Hamblen Park Presbyterian Church, without whose generosity the toy store would not be possible.
This year we had more families come to the event than ever before! At least 30 families in all, who bought toys for over 70 kiddos! We had several families from the new apartments that leased out over the last 6 months. Some had not yet come to events the Community Center and we were so glad to have them come through the door! We also had a clothing giveaway going on in the room next to the Toy Store room. Everyone was able to leave with gifts and/or clothing. Families were so grateful and we were glad to meet newcomers and introduce them to what the Center has to offer.
We earned $330 and as has been our tradition for the last three years, children in the after school program voted on $100 worth of gifts to purchase from the Presbyterian Giving catalog. This year a family of chickens was the #1 choice! For the 3rd year in a row an education for a child was chosen, and for the 2nd year, purchasing a sewing machine was picked. I post the receipt from these purchases in the classroom for a few months and it leads to some great conversations and continues to be a source of pride for the children.
We are so grateful for this lovely tradition and all the support and dedication that goes into it from all you "elves" and the whole Hamblen Park Presbyterian Church congregation.
Blessings and Peace in Christ,
Julie Cordero

Lenten Study: Prone to Wander
A Lenten Journey with Women in the Wilderness
Lent is traditionally a wilderness season of the church year. This devotional book explores the stories of biblical women who encountered parched and desolate places. In their stories of doubt and questioning, of dryness and distance, we can find guideposts for the inevitable wilderness times in our own lives. All these women were drawn closer to God, who does not leave us to wander alone. Join Pastors Jennie Barber and Katie Haney as we embark on this Lenten journey together, regardless of gender. Books will be available for a suggested donation of $15 or you can order from your favorite bookstore.
Join us Tuesdays at 10:00 AM, February 24 - March 31 - Room 4.

Adult Education for March 2026
"Intergenerational Communities in Luke’s Gospel and Acts."
Congregations today frequently wrestle with questions surrounding age: What does it mean to be an intergenerational community? How should the church engage and welcome people of all ages? What does a life of faith look like from youth to old age?
Luke’s Gospel and Acts help us as we grapple with these questions. These texts depict Jesus in different stages of life, show how Jesus engages people of all ages, and reveal both the joys and the challenges of intergenerational community. In this class, we will discuss how faith is formed, shared, and sustained across generations—both in biblical texts and in congregations today.
The facilitator for this class will be the Rev. Dr. Heidi Biermann, who currently serves as the West Central Connector for the Presbytery of the Inland Northwest. She holds a ThD in New Testament from Duke Divinity School, an MDiv from Princeton Theological Seminary, and a BA from Whitworth University.
Join us Sundays at 10:45 AM in the Skylight Room March 1, 8, 15, and 22.

HPPC Holiday Bazaar
presented by Deborah's Circle
Deborah’s Circle will again present a Holiday Bazaar on Saturday, November 7th (this Fall). One-half of the hall will be used to sell hand-crafted items and the other half will include a re-sale area of gently used collectibles and household items (no clothing or furniture). Included will also be a bake sale area.
To that end, Deborah’s Circle is requesting volunteers to help organize this endeavor. The time commitment will not be onerous. Janet Ray has already volunteered to be the Chairperson for the Bazaar. Please contact either Terrie Roberts, (509) 868-6286 or sunnycreeksinger@gmail.com or Janet Ray, 509-993-2000 auntray88@gmail.com to volunteer or for more information.
In addition, Hamblen Park members, friends and family are encouraged to make items for sale, including, but not limited to, table runners, pillowcases, placemats, gift bags, cotton dish cloths, or any type of hand-crafted items. People who work with woodcraft are encouraged to think of donating.
And finally, please think about any gently used items you might be willing to donate for the re-sale area.
