WORSHIP WITH US

Stewardship Sermon Series

It may not be a topic for polite dinner conversation, but the Bible has a lot to say about money and our relationship to it. In addition to scripture, individuals and communities are shaped by the “money stories” that invoke fear, trust, wisdom, confusion, generosity, and wholeness. During our fall stewardship series, we will explore Old and New Testament texts that move us to deep and honest engagement with the ways we practice, or fail to practice, faithful stewardship. Join us Sunday mornings at 9 AM in the sanctuary.

All youth who are serving or are interested in serving as Sunday School helpers are invited to a training, Sunday, October 8, at 10:15 AM. We'll meet in the Skylight Room to answer questions, review expectations, and talk about the best ways to support teachers and kids. Donuts will be provided! Please reach out to Mitchel ([email protected]) or Pastor Jennie ([email protected]) with questions.

Our Money Story Devotional Guide and Discussion Group Starts THIS Sunday

Talking about money and finances is uncomfortable so we often avoid doing so, but money and possessions are two of the most talked about topics in Scripture--Jesus talked about money more than faith and prayer.

Our relationship with our money, our time, and our other resources is complicated. We all have a money story, whether we recognize it or not. Some of us are living from a story of shame or guilt. Others have been taught that our actions won't have an impact. Many fear that they will run out or not have enough.

Our October 8-29 sermon series will explore how events in the past have influenced our connection with money in the present. There is a beautiful and thoughtful devotional guide available on the information table that follows along with each week's sermon theme. After worship each week there will be a discussion group in the Skylight Room, led by Heather Notske. We hope you will join us there!

Change for Food Donations

We will no longer be collecting food for Westminster Food Bank as they are no longer operational. If you have food that you would like to donate, please put it into our little food pantry across from Hamblen Elementary or donate directly to Second Harvest in Spokane at 1234 E Front Ave.

Coats 4 Kids

The annual Coats 4 Kids drive runs now through the end of October. Please consider donating new or gently used coats for kids in our community who are without. Even adult-sized coats are in need for the older kids, who are often left out during this drive. Please leave donations in the collection box in the church entry. Thank you!

Calling All Crafters

Deborah Circle is looking for crafters of all ages to participate in a Holiday Bazaar by donating handmade items to sell at the bazaar on Saturday, November 4, 2023, 9:30 AM to 4 PM in the Fellowship Hall.

These items can be handcrafted items, delicious baked goods, homemade jams, cards, aprons, pillowcases, or anything else you might be talented at making. We will also have a bake sale and a silent auction for unique items.

The money raised will be used for fellowship events and outreach projects of Deborah Circle. Please contact Terrie Roberts at 509-624-3108 for more information.

Preschool Play Structure Fundraiser

The Preschool Ministry Butter Braids fundraiser runs through October 16. All money earned will go towards our BIG DREAM of a new outdoor play structure for Hamblen Park Presbyterian Preschool and Church. The tasty breads are perfect for the holidays, so stock up and check out the online store for gluten free options.

Order forms are in the foyer, and all checks can be made to Hamblen Park Preschool. Please bring orders to the Preschool or Church office, or order online at bit.ly/HamblenPreschoolButterBraids2023. All orders are due by October 16.

To Our Faithful Bite2Go Supporters

Hamblen Elementary has had a change in boundaries that include more low-income apartment children. They now are requesting 30 'kits' per week, which has been approved. That means we are responsible for an additional $50 per week, and an average of $600 per month. We continue to trust in your unwavering, faithful financial support.

Drivers, if the bags are too heavy, remember you can contact the school office at 509.354.2900, and they will bring out a cart to assist you.

Questions? Contact Karen Kelly 509.599.7518. Again, thank you for all your support of our neighborhood school.

Pardon Our Mess

We’re in the process of remodeling on the south side of the building to make our youth room and room 4 more inviting, functional, and safe spaces. Thanks for your patience!
