WORSHIP WITH US

Is This the Jesus You Know?

September 11 – October 23

Everyone has an opinion about who Jesus Christ is. And they'll tell you too. We often get our understanding of Jesus from a lot of different sources: books, culture, churches, the internet, and even politicians. But who does Jesus himself say he is? Expand your view of Jesus through this series looking at the seven "I Am" statements from the gospel of John.

Join us for In-Person Worship on Sunday Mornings at 9 AM!

  • Masks are optional.
  • Nursery care is provided.
  • Communion is served in factory-sealed packets the first Sunday of the month.
  • Children's Sunday School is available for ages 3-yrs through 5th grade after the Junior Sermon.

OPPORTUNITIES TO GET INVOLVED

Opportunities to Serve at HPPC & in the Community

Visit our website at hamblenpres.org/getinvolved to check out a list of ways to get involved at HPPC and grow as a disciple of Jesus. You will find 10 different categories along with a few examples of things that fit in each category. In front of each category is a checkbox. If you think you would like to try out a new ministry, print the list, check the box(es) of the categories that interest you, return it to the office, and we will contact you when we have a need for volunteers. Thank you for serving with us!

ADULT CHRISTIAN EDUCATION AT HPPC

Adult Sunday School

Have you ever wondered how the Bible came together? Have you thought about the ways we interpret scripture as disciples of Jesus? This fall we’ll answer these questions and many more as we explore the Animate: Bible course. In each Animate: Bible session, the group will watch a video featuring a leading voice from the Christian faith, spend time on personal reflection and journaling, and share ideas with the group. Join us in the Skylight Room each Sunday after the 9:00 AM service through October 30.

Wednesday Morning Bible Study

Join Pastor Jennie Wednesday mornings from 9:30-11:30 AM in the Skylight Room for a study on the Book of Acts! We will look at how the Holy Spirit shaped the first communities of disciples and think about how the Spirit is shaping us too. Come when you can!

October Book Study

Wednesdays, October 5, 12, 19, 6:30-8:00 PM

Interested in learning more about and discussing how our spirituality can affect our democracy? Shannon Dunn will lead a book study on Parker Palmer’s Healing the Heart of Democracy this October (purchase the book HERE.) Parker challenges us to listen to one another, hear each other’s stories, and contribute to the common good as an antidote to the anti-democratic forces that bear down upon us. We want you to join us for this sobering, yet hopeful, account of what needs to be done to live together in peace. Click HERE for a reading guide for our first session.

Top of the Hill--2nd Tuesdays from 11:30-1:00

Suggested donation to cover lunch is $8, cash or check. Here is the lineup for the rest of the year:

Songs of the Season

November 13—December 11

As we journey towards Advent and Christmas, join us to study the songs of the season found in the gospels. We’ll also study biblical characters featured in the songs that fill our hearts with the hope and joy of Christmas. Come to the Skylight Room after the 9:00 AM worship service starting November 13.

Away in a Manger? Christmas Beyond the Barn

Wednesdays, December 7, 14, 21, 9:30 AM

When we think about the story of Christmas, we picture animals gathered around the infant Jesus, angels singing, and a star shining over a stable. But the story of Christmas is more than a quiet scene depicted on a Christmas card. For three weeks in Advent, we’ll study stories in the gospels of Matthew and Luke that didn’t happen on a silent night but teach us about the One in the manger. Join us Wednesday mornings at 9:30 in the Skylight Room.
