When Jesus calls us to follow him, he invites us to a journey that is full of diverse paths. Whether we encounter ease, challenge, or change, each path draws us closer to God. Join us Sunday mornings this fall as we explore the unique ways we are led by Jesus the Way.

World Communion Sunday

This Sunday we will celebrate World Communion Sunday with our brothers and sisters in Christ around the globe! We will have special music and the children are invited to help carry in communion elements. If you are celebrating from home, please be sure to have a piece of bread or cracker, and something to drink ready when worship begins.

Preschool Play Structure Fundraiser

The Preschool Ministry Butter Braids fundraiser starts next week! All money earned will go towards our BIG DREAM of a new outdoor play structure for Hamblen Park Presbyterian Preschool and Church. The tasty breads are perfect for the holidays, so stock up and check out the online store for gluten free options.

Order forms will be in the foyer and all checks can be made to Hamblen Park Preschool. Please bring orders to the Preschool or Church office. All orders are due by October 16.

To Our Faithful Bite2Go Supporters

Hamblen Elementary has had a change in boundaries that include more low-income apartment children. They now are requesting 30 'kits' per week, which has been approved. That means we are responsible for an additional $50 per week, and an average of $600 per month. We continue to trust in your unwavering, faithful financial support.

Drivers, if the bags are too heavy, remember you can contact the school office at 509.354.2900, and they will bring out a cart to assist you.

Questions? Contact Karen Kelly 509.599.7518. Again, thank you for all your support of our neighborhood school.

Opportunities to Serve at HPPC & in the Community

Visit our website at hamblenpres.org/getinvolved to check out a list of ways to get involved at HPPC and grow as a disciple of Jesus. You will find 10 different categories along with a few examples of things that fit in each category. In front of each category is a checkbox. If you think you would like to try out a new ministry, fill out the form online or print the list, check the box(es) of the categories that interest you, return it to the office, and we will contact you when we have a need for volunteers. There are also printed copies available at the Information Center in the church entry. Thank you for serving with us!

Pardon Our Mess

We’re in the process of remodeling on the south side of the building to make our youth room and room 4 more inviting, functional, and safe spaces. Thanks for your patience!

An Update from Pastor Steve

I've completed 2187 miles of the PCT. Most of them with some super cool friends I've made. We just finished the Sierra and are making different decisions about next steps. I don't have too many miles left but they are all snow, rain, or even on fire. I'm not sure what my next move will be....might need to wait out trail conditions. It's been amazing. I've never hiked more than 80 miles at once before this. 2187 feels like a huge accomplishment. Thanks to everyone for support and encouragement....especially to Hamblen Pres!

Our Money Story Devotional Guide and Discussion Group

Talking about money and finances is uncomfortable so we often avoid doing so, but money and possessions are two of the most talked about topics in Scripture--Jesus talked about money more than faith and prayer.

Our relationship with our money, our time, and our other resources is complicated. We all have a money story, whether we recognize it or not. Some of us are living from a story of shame or guilt. Others have been taught that our actions won't have an impact. Many fear that they will run out or not have enough.

Our October 8-29 sermon series will explore how events in the past have influenced our connection with money in the present. There is a beautiful and thoughtful devotional guide available on the information table that follows along with each week's sermon theme. After worship each week there will be a discussion group in the Skylight Room, led by Heather Notske. We hope you will join us there!

Holding Space for Grief

Join us monthly for a group providing support for those who have experienced loss and/or those who are walking through grief with a friend or family member. Group will be facilitated by Rev. Scott Kinder-Pyle, an ordained Presbyterian minister and a board certified chaplain, currently working with Gentiva Hospice. This group meets at 6 PM in Room 1 on the following dates:

  • October 24
  • November 21

Questions? Ask Heather Notske [email protected] or 509-385-0627.
