Toys are due THIS Sunday 12/1 for the
Liberty Park Community Development Center’s Annual Toy Store
Tis the season… Let’s take our ‘thankfulness’ and pay it forward. There are 3 ways to participate:
1. Sign-up to purchase toys via Sign Up Genius: https://bit.ly/ToyDriveSignUp2024
2. Pull a tab from the poster in the church foyer to purchase specific toys.
3. Make monetary donations earmarked for the ‘toy store’.
Once you’ve purchased your toys, drop them unwrapped in the bins in the church foyer by Sunday, 12/1. (Or at the latest Monday, 12/2!) Last year’s participation was so incredible that Liberty Park was able to ‘pay it forward’ as well, donating to needs they identified in their community.

Reading Buddies
Would you be interested and willing to invest one hour a week of your time to make a huge difference in a child's life? Please take a few minutes and review the short video below on our Reading Buddies program.
Reading Buddies Video
https://youtu.be/bDD3qRuDEyw?si=VmBEWJYF90uQJ9nr
Research from the U.S Department of Education confirms that children who cannot read by the end of third grade are much less likely to graduate from High School. You can change that by encouraging them to learn to read and to love reading, by reading to them and having them read to you.
The steps to becoming a Reading Buddy are easy. Please follow the instructions below.
You can pick your school from the participating elementary schools on the list attached.
Thank you for considering this incredible opportunity to help a child learn to love reading!
Become a Reading Buddy in 3 steps:
1. Apply
Fill out the Spokane Public Schools’ application at this link using a desktop computer. The application is not mobile friendly.
Tip: Before filling out the application you’ll need a photo of your driver’s license (.jpg format recommended), and to have downloaded, completed, and saved the SPS Disclosure Statement form to upload to the application.
Wait for your application to be approved before moving to Step 2
2. Connect with the School
After you receive an email that your application has been approved, email the principal assistant at the school of your choice letting them know your application was approved. They will set a time with you to come in for a quick orientation and tour.
*See the attachment with names of schools, principal assistants, and email addresses.
3. Attend the Orientation
Attend the orientation with the principal assistant and set up a weekly time to read with students!
If you have any questions about your volunteer application, contact Trish Gray with Spokane Public Schools at trishg@spokaneschools.org.
