Tracy Simmons, founder of FāVS News, will share her passion for religion journalism and how it led her to create the FāVS News outlet. Donations Needed for Family Promise Welcome Home Kits

Our ministry partner, Family Promise, needs Welcome Home kits for families transitioning to permanent housing. Family Promise “helps local communities coordinate their compassion to address the root causes of family homelessness”. One way we help is by collecting household items and assembling kits as a gift for these families. Items needed are listed below and also will be on the flyer in the narthex. There is a barrel in the narthex to collect all donated items. New or gently used items are acceptable. Over the next 6 weeks, we hope you will donate generously. On 2/23 , after the worship service, we will assemble these donations into “kits” to pass to Family Promise. We will need volunteers to help on that Sunday. Sign up here to volunteer on 2/23: https://bit.ly/welcomehomekitassembly Monetary donations can be made by check written out to HPPC (put "Family Promise Welcome Kits" on the memo line) OR donating HERE and will be used to purchase items not donated. Please join us in supporting Family Promise and their fruitful ministry.

Concerned about the environment?

Join the Creation Care Team and

find out how YOU can make a difference.

We read in Genesis that God created the natural world in which humans were tasked to be

caretakers, so that all living things could flourish as they were designed. As individuals, we

certainly carry that responsibility, but as part of the church, we are called and collected to be

good stewards of the world around us. The father of our Reformed faith, John Calvin, may have

been the first environmentalist, so we are extending his legacy by caring for the earth.

Last January, we experienced a four-week class on Creation Care and learned that there are

things people are doing and can do even more to tackle the environmental crisis. As a follow-up

to that class, we are forming a Creation Care Team at Hamblen. Our first gathering will be on

Sunday, February 9 directly after worship. We will be joined by Janet Farness who is the

coordinator of the Creation Care Team at St. Mark’s Lutheran. We hope to get ideas from her

about where to begin our work and how we might have a much bigger impact as a church than

we can as individuals. Please join us and find out how you can help.

Creation Care Team meeting – February 9 – 10:30-11:30 AM – Skylight Room

2025 Winter Session: Tai Chi

(Moving for Better Balance)

Tai Chi continues! Sandy Nolting will continue teaching this 8-movement form to improve balance and lower leg strength. Classes will be Thursdays from 1-2 PM through 2/24.

This session is open to everyone! Classes will be held in the Fellowship Hall. Please wear comfortable clothing and bring a water bottle. Class is mostly standing but can be modified if you need to stay seated. We hope to see you there!

QPR (Question, Persuade, Refer) Suicide Prevention Training - February 27

QPR stands for Question, Persuade, and Refer — the 3 simple steps anyone can learn to help save a life from suicide. Just as people trained in CPR and the Heimlich Maneuver help save thousands of lives each year, people trained in QPR learn how to recognize the warning signs of a suicide crisis and how to question, persuade, and refer someone to help.

We are hosting a QPR Suicide Prevention Training seminar on February 27. The seminar will be held at the church, from 5:30 PM - 7:30 PM. An official flyer will be shared soon. This event is FREE and registration is appreciated. Helping professionals may receive clock hours for this seminar. For more information and to register for tickets, click here . Dinner will be provided and free childcare is available.
