Come Sing with the Choir!

Do you love to sing? Then we have a place for you! The Chancel Choir starts again this September and sings through mid-June. Even if you can’t commit to the entire program year, come sing with us on weeks that you are able. Rehearsals are on Thursdays, 7:00-8:30 pm in the sanctuary, and we gather at 9:00 on Sunday mornings (a half hour prior to worship). Childcare is available upon request. Contact Kyla Fague at kylaf@hamblenpres.org or 509-270-6848 for more information or if you are interested in joining this great community. We hope to see you in the choir loft!

Children’s Ministries Needs You!

We’re looking for 4-6 people willing to teach Sunday School around once a month during the school year. If that’s not your skillset, come cook for Journey, we’re in need of a rotation of cooks! Contact Mitchel Pierce (mitchelp@hamblenpres.org) or Gerrit Van Zwol (gerritV@hamblenpres.org) for more info.

Gift Registry for the New HPPC Kitchen

Our nice new kitchen needs some nice new supplies! If you would like to help stock the kitchen with things that we need, you can visit our wish list through Amazon HERE. Gifts will be shipped directly to the church. If you have any questions, please contact Heather at 509-385-0627 or heathern@hamblenpres.org.

Join Us for Wednesday Morning Bible Study!

Right in the middle of the Ten Commandments is the call to keep the Sabbath, to set aside one day of the week for holy rest. In our society we’ve approached Sabbath in two ways. One approach sees Sabbath as a day marked by strict rules about what we’re "allowed" to do and what we aren’t. Another approach ignores Sabbath entirely because it is seen as an obstacle that hinders our ability to acquire and accomplish. Old Testament scholar Walter Brueggmann offers another way of understanding the biblical concept of Sabbath in his book Sabbath as Resistance: Saying No to the Culture of Now. Join us this fall for a Bible study on the Sabbath. Brueggemann’s book will serve as our conversation partner as we dive deeply into a study of the fourth commandment and how it offers both an alternative and resistance to the culture that seeks to define us. See you Wednesday mornings at 9:30 AM in the Skylight Room.

Sunday Morning Adult Ed Continues...

Are you curious about the link between Christian theology and universal human rights? This three-part adult education class can answer your questions! Week One will cover the history of human rights in the modern world, specifically tracking developments after World War II. Week Two will address Christian theological engagement with universal human rights. In Week Three, all participants will work through a case study together involving Christianity and human rights. This series is designed as an accessible introduction to this topic, aimed at high school-age on up. Dr. Shannon Dunn, Gonzaga professor and department chair of religious studies will serve as our facilitator. Join us Sunday mornings in the Skylight Room at 10:45 AM through Oct 12.

Dr. Dunn has a short homework assignment to complete before this week's class on Sunday, 10/5:

•Find a passage in scripture (Old Testament or New Testament) that supports human rights

•Write 2-3 reasons about how this scripture can support universal human rights

See you this Sunday after worship at Adult Ed!

Did You Miss Last Weeks' Class?

Children's Sunday School (3-yrs - 5th Grade)

Sunday School is right after the Children’s Sermon during most worship services throughout the school year. Each week, children aged 3 years through 5th grade will gather for Bible lessons. We have fun activities, skits, and wonderful messages planned!

Kids' Zone (3-yrs - 1st Grade)

On mornings with no Sunday School, and every Sunday during the summer, children 3yrs-1st grade are invited to the Skylight Room for fun activities. Kids 2nd grade and up remain in the worship service with their families.

Journey Kids' Club (1st-5th Grade)

Journey Kids' Club meets Wednesdays, 5:00-7:00 PM, October--May. We are so excited to spend time playing games, eating food, and learning more about God in this really wonderful time together! A weekly donation of $5 is suggested to help support the cost of dinner. You are encouraged to bring a friend!
