THIS WEEK'S NEWS

Church Office Closed Tomorrow for Veterans Day

The church office will be closed for Veterans Day tomorrow, Friday, November 11. Regular office hours will resume on Monday, November 14.

The Songs of the Season Study Begins This Sunday

November 13—December 11

As we journey towards Advent and Christmas, join us to study the songs of the season found in the gospels. We’ll also study biblical characters featured in the songs that fill our hearts with the hope and joy of Christmas. Come to the Skylight Room after the 9:00 AM worship service starting November 13.

Kisses for Vets This Sunday

Although Veteran Day is officially the preceding Friday, Hamblen will be honoring those who served in the armed forces on Sunday, November 13. If you, your spouse, child, parent, grandparent, or any family member is a veteran, stop by the Welcome Table for kisses (candy, of course) and a token of our gratitude.

Volunteers Needed for the Advent Fair

The annual Advent Fair will be on November 27, 10:30-Noon. We would love to have you join us for crafts, food, service projects, and a carol sing to start the season off right! If you are interested in volunteering or would like to donate undecorated sugar or gingerbread cookies, please contact Cindy Dicken at [email protected]. See you there!

Bite2Go

Thank you to our volunteers who have faithfully picked up Bite2Go this fall. The sign-up Genius has added dates from January through March for new and returning volunteers. The spots fill up quickly, so, if you are interested in taking a turn, get online soon at bit.ly/Bite2GoHPPC! Or, choose to support the program with a monetary gift designated to the Bite2Go budget. Thank you!

Tis the Season for the

Liberty Park Community Development Center Toy Store

As we count our blessings throughout the Thanksgiving season, we turn our attention to the Liberty Park Development Center’s Toy Store scheduled for December 9. Your continued support of the Neighborhood Outreach programs is a true blessing to our church, as well as those we support.

Starting next week, the Sign-up Genius will be available for you to choose toys for the Children’s Center. Watch for it in your weekly e-news.

To participate, open the Sign-up Genius for the Toy Store, choose specific items to purchase and drop them off (unwrapped) in the ‘Toy Box’ in the church foyer anytime the church doors are open. An evening drop off is available on Wednesday, November 30, from 5:00 – 7:00PM. Monetary donations designated for the ‘Toy Store’ are welcome as well.

Donations will be accepted through Tuesday, December 6 . Thank you for considering and participating in this ministry.

Get Your Tickets for the Quilt Raffle

The ANNUAL QUILT RAFFLE is underway to raise funds for supplies needed to further the Deborah Circle ministries. This year, a beautifully designed quilt made by Marge Cusworth will be raffled. The quilt is approximately 54" by 54" and would make a lovely covering for a single bed or a striking wall hanging with 16 squares, each containing an appliqued western boot.

Raffle Tickets are $2 each and can be purchased from a Deb's Circle member or after the worship service on Sundays in the Fellowship Hall. The drawing will be held November 27, during Coffee Fellowship after the worship service. You do not need to be present to win.

Away in a Manger? Christmas Beyond the Barn

Wednesdays, December 7, 14, 21, 9:30 AM

When we think about the story of Christmas, we picture animals gathered around the infant Jesus, angels singing, and a star shining over a stable. But the story of Christmas is more than a quiet scene depicted on a Christmas card. For three weeks in Advent, we’ll study stories in the gospels of Matthew and Luke that didn’t happen on a silent night but teach us about the One in the manger. Join us Wednesday mornings at 9:30 in the Skylight Room.
