Eat Pray Love Christian-style

New Adult Ed Series Continues...

Learn about prayer practices ancient and contemporary that can be accommodated to your own lifestyle and personality. Prayer is a foundational part of our walk with God and is found in all major religions around the world. One way to look at prayer is the image of Crockpot Spirituality - simmering, cooking all day, slowly changing our lives. It's the opposite of Microwave Spirituality. Brother Lawrence was a good example of how prayer can be incorporated in our everyday lives. He found formal prayer tedious and preferred to find God during his kitchen duties. There's something for everyone in these sessions. EXTENDED THROUGH SUNDAY, 11/9, after worship 10:40 AM - 11:40 AM. Leader: Rev. Katie Haney

Join Us for Wednesday Morning Bible Study!

Right in the middle of the Ten Commandments is the call to keep the Sabbath, to set aside one day of the week for holy rest. In our society we’ve approached Sabbath in two ways. One approach sees Sabbath as a day marked by strict rules about what we’re "allowed" to do and what we aren’t. Another approach ignores Sabbath entirely because it is seen as an obstacle that hinders our ability to acquire and accomplish. Old Testament scholar Walter Brueggmann offers another way of understanding the biblical concept of Sabbath in his book Sabbath as Resistance: Saying No to the Culture of Now. Join us this fall for a Bible study on the Sabbath. Brueggemann’s book will serve as our conversation partner as we dive deeply into a study of the fourth commandment and how it offers both an alternative and resistance to the culture that seeks to define us. See you Wednesday mornings at 9:30 AM in the Skylight Room.

Tai Chi Continues Through 11/6

Tai Chi continues through Thursday, 11/6. From 1:00 – 2:00 PM in the Fellowship Hall, you can build your strength and balance with Tai Chi led by Sandy Nolting. Both new and returning students are welcome! Bring your own water and dress comfortably. See you on Thursdays!

Thanksgiving Food Drive

In partnership with Spokane Helpers Network, our congregation will be providing non-perishable Thanksgiving Dinner items for hungry households in Spokane County. If you would like to participate, please donate any of the above items. Spokane Helpers Network will assemble into Meal Kits and deliver directly to the doorsteps of struggling families. Please drop your donations off at HPPC no later than NEXT Sunday morning, November 9th

(Lists are available for pick up at the info table in the narthex for easy shopping!)

Top of the Hill – Thursday, 11/11

Join us for Top of the Hill, Tuesday, November 11 at 11:30 AM. We’ll welcome Curtis Powell, who will present on Getting Curious about the World of Kiddos. You’ll walk away with insight into how to understand the child brain, today’s parents, as well as how to build healthy relationships with children and their parents.

Curtis Powell is husband to Alicia Powell (the fabulous director of Hamblen Park Presbyterian Preschool) and father to Fenna (10) and Opal (8). Curtis owns and practices at Curtis Powell Counseling Services, providing mental health therapy to children, adolescents, and their families. He has over 15 years’ experience working with youth and families, five of those in the counseling world.

Lunch is included for a suggested donation of $10. RSVP by Sunday, November 9 on the clipboard in the information center or by calling the church office 509-448-2909.

Your input would be extremely helpful. A short survey can be completed by clicking here. Thank you!

Kids' Zone (3-yrs - 1st Grade)

On mornings with no Sunday School, and every Sunday during the summer, children 3yrs-1st grade are invited to the Skylight Room for fun activities. Kids 2nd grade and up remain in the worship service with their families.

Journey Kids' Club (1st-5th Grade)

Journey Kids' Club meets Wednesdays, 5:00-7:00 PM, October--May. We are so excited to spend time playing games, eating food, and learning more about God in this really wonderful time together! A weekly donation of $5 is suggested to help support the cost of dinner. You are encouraged to bring a friend!
