THIS WEEK'S NEWS

Adult Ed: War, Peace and the Christian Tradition

Starts THIS Sunday After Worship

How do Christians understand war, peace, and conflict? Join us for a three-week interactive class exploring Christian traditions of just war, peace, and nonviolence. Dr. Shannon Dunn will introduce the traditions, Pastor Jennie Barber will share experience studying nonviolent resistance in Northern Ireland, and our final session will explore a contemporary case study. Come learn, discuss, and engage with these important questions! September 27, October 4 & 11 after worship in the Skylight Room.

Bite2Go Volunteers Needed for Liberty Park Please

Volunteers are needed for both locations always, but we are still in great need of Liberty Park volunteers to pick up meals from Second Harvest and deliver them to Liberty Park Community Development Center Pre-school. If you have any questions about this location, please click this link to email Gladys Rivers.

Men’s Breakfast & Bible Study – Tuesdays from 7:30-8:30 AM, studying Philippians

Adult Bible Study – Wednesdays from 9:30-11:00 AM, studying Genesis

New Safety Protocols in Place

To help keep everyone safe, all exterior doors except the main entrance will be locked 10 minutes after Sunday worship begins. The exterior door to the preschool hallway will remain locked at all times. All locked doors can be opened from the inside in case of an emergency. We hope an emergency never occurs, but plans are in place for communication and evacuation.

In Case You Missed the Congregational Meeting...

At the congregational meeting on September 6, we elected our Pastor Nominating Committee (PNC) who will be responsible for the next steps in our pastor search. Committee members are Curt Craig, Ione Felgenhauer, Kyle Ham, Kay Steinhilber, and Amber Wagenblast. Please hold this group in your prayers as they work to discern who God is calling to lead HPPC into the future! For more information about the search process and the PNC's responsibilities, see the handout at the information center.

One Volunteer Needed for St. Ann’s Lunch on October 4

First Ave. Our dessert volunteer spots are full for this date. Thank you! Call Dia with questions: 509-389-9858. Sign up here: https://bit.ly/StAnnsSundayLunch

Come Sing with the Choir!

Do you love to sing? Then we have a place for you! The Chancel Choir starts again this September and sings through mid-June. Even if you can’t commit to the entire program year, come sing with us on weeks that you are able. Rehearsals are on Thursdays, 6:30-8 PM in the sanctuary, and we gather at 9 AM on Sunday mornings (half hour prior to worship). Childcare is provided. Contact Kyla Fague at 509-270-6848 or kylaf@hamblenpres.org for more information or if you are interested in joining this great community. We hope to see you in the choir loft!

Handbell Ringers Wanted

Looking to add a new element of joy to your life? Consider playing handbells. We would like to add a few new members to the handbell choir this fall, so this is your opportunity. If you’re curious, call Katie Haney at 509 840-3456 and she can explain what’s involved. Rehearsals are Thursdays, 4:30-5:30 PM. Ages 4th grade to adult are welcome.
