WORSHIP WITH US
Churches like Hamblen are needed more than ever. Our witness during the pandemic and our love for neighbors spoke volumes to people about the gospel of Jesus Christ. As all churches face post-pandemic challenges, we explore how much God’s mission matters. It’s a mission worth our time, talent, and treasure. It even gives our lives significance. Growing active followers of Jesus Christ and building his community matters to us and to the world around us.
Remembering Those Who Have Preceded Us in the Faith

This Sunday is Reformation Day, and some Christian traditions designate it as the eve of All-Saints Day. During worship, we will remember those who have gone before us in the faith. There will be time during the service to light a candle in thanksgiving of a family member or friend who has brought the light of Christ into our lives. If you are worshipping with us online, you will be invited to light a candle at home.
Join us for In-Person Worship on Sunday mornings at 9 AM!

  • Register when you arrive, or skip the sign-in line by registering HERE.
  • Masks required in accordance with the statewide mandate.
  • Nursery care provided.
  • Communion served in factory-sealed packets the first Sunday of the month.

Updated Mask Guidance

Please wear your mask in the church building. We are implementing the statewide mask mandate for indoor settings. This includes vaccinated individuals. We do this, not out of fear, but as an act of love for our neighbors in the Spokane community and to practice Romans 13:1.

Blood Drive at HPPC This Sunday!

Unfortunately, we have moved to a critical need for blood in Spokane, meaning we have less than a 2-day supply of most blood types. If you are healthy and able to donate blood, please do.

Our fall blood drive is scheduled for Sunday, October 31, from 9:45 AM to 1:00 PM. Vitalant will be running the blood drive with a donation bus in the HPPC parking lot.

There is a new online portal to make an appointment to donate at bit.ly/HPPCBloodDrive2021. Appointments are preferred, but walk-ins are welcome to donate on the day of the blood drive.

If you would like to make an appointment but prefer not to logon, you can contact Jill Reuter at 509-599-2689 or [email protected] to have her make an appointment for you.
Harvest Party & Trunk-or-Treat This Sunday

Hamblen Park Presbyterian Church and Hamblen Park Preschool are hosting our second annual Trunk-or-Treat and Harvest Party. The event will take place on Sunday, October 31st from 1pm-3pm in our church parking lot. We are extending an invitation to host and participate in our Trunk-or-Treat to church & preschool families, as well as to our neighborhood friends from Hamblen Elementary School. Please consider signing up for this not-to-be-missed spooktacular neighborhood event at bit.ly/HPPCTrunkOrTreat. Thank you!
Advent Poinsettias
If you wish to order a poinsettia to grace the sanctuary during Advent, you may designate it "In Memory" or "In Honor" of a family member or friend. Envelopes are located at the Information Center, and the cost is $15 per poinsettia plant. Please fill out the information and place the envelopes in the offering plate or on the secretary's desk in the church office by November 28th. If you are worshipping with us online, you can also place your order by calling the church office at 509-448-2909.
HOW WE'RE HELPING OTHERS
Candy Donations

Smiles may be currently hidden by masks, but that doesn't mean that it is any less important for us to create reasons to smile. The HPPC Harvest Party and Trunk-or-Treat on Sunday, October 31, 1:00-3:00 PM is sure to prompt smiles from children and adults alike! Candy donations are needed for this upcoming event. We will be offering a selection of nut-free candies for those with nut allergies. If you would like to help offer some nut-free options, you can find a list of candies at bit.ly/NutFreeCandies. Please bring any candy donations, with or without nuts, to the Information Table at the church. Thank you for helping to create smiles!
Building Christ's Community

World Relief expects that 200 refugees from Afghanistan will be coming to Spokane. They have a need for Welcome Kits to prepare homes for families fleeing violence and danger. Use this link, bit.ly/WorldReliefWelcomeKits to review the kits: kitchen, linen, cleaning, elementary, or middle and high school kits, how to assemble and deliver a kit.

Thank you for building God's kingdom in Spokane!

We also need worship leaders for once-a-month Sunday worship services at Moran Vista. The service begins at 2:00 pm. Worship leadership needs include a musician, a song leader, and someone to provide an inspiring reading or a simple sermon.

Hurricane Ida Relief

Presbyterian Disaster Assistance is delivering aid to those impacted by Hurricane Ida. This will be a long-term commitment to the people impacted by this catastrophic destruction. PDA will continue to work with Presbyterian leadership to respond to Hurricane Ida and remain engaged in the recovery efforts during the hurricane season of 2021. PDA will provide emotional and spiritual care as well as long-term recovery to address unmet needs. We invite you to join in this effort by donating HERE. Thank you for your support!
Bite2Go

Volunteers may sign up HERE for delivery of Bite2Go food kits to Hamblen Elementary. We are again supporting 20 students with Bite2Go take-home meal supplements this school year. Your support has been tremendous the last several years and we look forward to your continued commitment. Volunteers are needed to pick up food at 2nd Harvest and drop off at Hamblen Elementary. Monetary donations help fund the program, which is $5.00 per week, per student. For those who wish to give support through monetary donations, please designate them for ‘Bite2go’.  You can find instructions and a map to Second Harvest HERE. For questions, call Karen Kelly at 509-599-7518. Thank you for committing to this ministry.

Wednesday Morning Bible Study

In spite of its place at the back of our Bibles, Paul’s first letter to the church in Thessalonica is the oldest writing in the New Testament. In this letter, Paul encourages the community of disciples to persist in faith, hope, and love. This fall, we’ll take an in-depth look at Paul’s letter to those who “became very dear to him” (1 Thessalonians 2:8). Together we’ll discover how this ancient letter continues to encourage us as we grow in faith individually and as a community.

Join us each week at 9:30 AM for Wednesday morning Bible study in the Fellowship Hall as we continue to explore 1 Thessalonians.

JAM (Jesus and Me)
Children's Sunday School

J.A.M. Sunday School is in person right after the Children’s Sermon during worship. Face masks will be utilized. This year our theme is “Heroes of the Bible”. Three-year-old through 1st-grade children will gather in self contained classrooms using Augsburg Fortress curriculum to learn about their favorite Bible hero. Second grade through fifth grade continue their fun using the rotation model. Each week students will investigate a Bible hero as they rotate through food, games, computer, video, and science sites throughout the building.
