True North VBS: June 23-26

Join us as we learn what it looks like to trust Jesus in a wild world, exploring the ALASKAN WILDERNESS! At Vacation Bible school we’ll play whacky games, sing fun songs, practice wild science experiments, and learn more about who God is and how much He loves each of us!

It takes many helping hands for a successful VBS! This means it’s all hands-on deck for Hamblen. See below to volunteer at VBS:

Volunteers Needed for St. Ann’s Lunch on 6/15 Please

For over 40 years, St. Ann's Catholic Church in the East Central neighborhood has provided a weekly lunch for people in need. Seven groups rotate the cooking and serving. Hamblen has partnered with Spokane Valley United Methodist to provide lunch every seven weeks at 1pm. What Hamblen needs is two volunteers from 10:40-2pm on June 15th to cook/serve/cleanup at 2120 E. First Ave. We also provide six dozen desserts (cookies, cupcakes, brownies, etc.), so we'd like 3 volunteers to deliver 2 dozen treats each. Call Dia with questions: 509-389-9858. Sign up here: https://bit.ly/StAnnsSundayLunch

To camp overnight, it will cost $20/night per campsite. Day visitors are FREE! Donations will be accepted at mealtimes to help defray the costs. Registration is GREATLY appreciated so we can plan accordingly! Hope to see you at Family Camp!

HPPC’s Earth Care Team Helps Protect Our Environment

We will continue to discuss how an Earth Care team could make a difference in the congregation, the neighborhood and the world, when it comes to the environment. We have discussed the possibility of collecting and recycling glass, batteries and plastic that the city doesn’t recycle. We are educating ourselves on the efforts already going on in Spokane and how we can contribute to those efforts. We’ve also talked about ways we can raise awareness of this issue in the worship service, through liturgy and a possible liturgical season focused on the environment. If you are interested in taking a more active role in protecting the environment, call Steve Sparks at (509) 954-7705 or Katie Haney at (509) 840-3456 and we can send you the Zoom link for our next meeting.  Next meeting: Monday, June 9 at 7:00 p.m. via Zoom

New to Hamblen? Welcome!

The pastors would love the opportunity to get to know you over coffee! We will soon hold a newcomer welcoming session where you can meet more people from our congregation and learn more about Hamblen Church. If you are interested in more information about getting involved in activities, becoming a member, or want to indicate your interest in our upcoming newcomer welcoming session, please contact the church office at 509-385-0619 or email hppc@hamblenpres.org.

Lost and Found

All Lost and Found items will soon be donated to charity. If you have lost anything recently, please stop by the church office to check our lost and found basket. Thank you!

Children's Sunday School (3-yrs - 5th Grade)

Sunday School is right after the Children’s Sermon during most worship services throughout the school year. Each week, children aged 3 years through 5th grade will gather for Bible lessons. We have fun activities, skits, and wonderful messages planned!

Kids' Zone (3-yrs - 1st Grade)

On mornings with no Sunday School, and every Sunday during the summer, children 3yrs-1st grade are invited to the Skylight Room for fun activities. Kids 2nd grade and up remain in the worship service with their families.

Journey Kids' Club (K-5th Grade)

Journey Kids' Club meets Wednesdays, 5:00-7:00 PM, October--May. We are so excited to spend time playing games, eating food, and learning more about God in this really wonderful time together! A weekly donation of $5 is suggested to help support the cost of dinner. You are encouraged to bring a friend!

Youth Ministries (6th-12th Grades)

Come join us for a hangout, games, and some Jesus time! For more information on our youth programs, visit our website's youth page at hamblenpres.org/youth. For questions, contact Mitchel Pierce, Director of Next Gen Ministries, at mitchelp@hamblenpres.org.
