WORSHIP WITH US

Use the season of Lent to return to the Lord and renew your Christian faith

You should have received a Lenten devotional in the mail titled "Drawn to the Cross." This booklet of intentional daily devotionals inspired by Henri Nouwen will draw us closer to the cross each day.

If you did not receive one or would like another to share with a friend, they are available at the information center in the main hallway. If you want to go a little deeper into the devotional, there are also daily questions available at the information center or HERE. You can use these personally or with a family member or friend. If you would like to join a small group, we will have two groups meeting through March to discuss the daily readings and questions:

  • Sunday mornings, following worship in the Skylight Room (March 5, 12, 19, 26, & April 2), led by Heather Notske. Childcare available if requested.

  • Wednesday evenings at 7pm, ON ZOOM, (March 1, 8, 15, 22, & 29), led by Pastor Jennie. Join our next meeting at bit.ly/HPPCLentGroup3-15-23.

If you have questions or would like to attend a group, please contact Heather at 509-385-0627 or [email protected].

Lenten Almsgiving

We are celebrating the ancient Lenten practice of almsgiving. Each Sunday we’ll hear from one of our mission partners and have a special opportunity to increase the church’s financial support for them. You may give at bit.ly/HPPCMinistrySupport or at worship services. By working with our partners, we are not just "giving alms," but supporting ongoing ministries.

This Sunday's ministry partner:

Family Promise of Spokane equips families and communities to end the cycle of homelessness.

As it serves families through wrap around services, Family Promise works to prevent families

from becoming homeless, provide for those families experiencing homelessness, and prepare families for life beyond homelessness.

One Great Hour of Sharing

We have the fun fish banks available again this year for kids to collect a Lenten offerings for One Great Hour of Sharing. These are available at the Information Center in the church entry.

Join us for In-Person Worship on Sunday Mornings at 9 AM!

  • Masks are optional.
  • Nursery care is provided.
  • Communion is served in factory-sealed packets the first Sunday of the month.
  • Children's Sunday School is available for ages 3-yrs through 5th grade after the Junior Sermon.

THIS WEEK'S NEWS

Remember to Spring Forward

Daylight Saving Time begins this Sunday, March 12. Remember to set your clocks forward one hour.

Family Promise News

Before the covid pandemic, our church faithfully housed guests of Family Promise by regularly providing rooms and meals. Since then, Family Promise has changed its service model. Currently, they provide a number of shelters and homes for families that are located across the Spokane region. We now have opportunities to serve these families in a variety of ways.

During the church service on March 12, we will hear from two representatives of Family Promise. They will outline the ways our congregation can be involved in supporting families experiencing

homelessness. They will also be available during Coffee Hour to answer questions or provide more

information. We will have interest sheets available at that time for you to fill out and let us know if you are interested in helping out with this vital mission in our community.

Help us help them in the quest to end homelessness!!

For more information, contact Karen Scruggs, Ministry to Homeless Coordinator, at [email protected].

Training can be provided! Sign up for one day this season or volunteer for multiple days--your choice!
