Some of them might be considered obscure, but all of them are powerful. Dig into the words of Jesus in this season with us.

It's that time of year when we start preparing for the HPPC Annual Report, and we'd love to include your thoughts. You will find a short questionnaire at hamblenpres.org/share-your-faith. It contains prompts to help us learn about your personal experiences at HPPC over the past year. You can answer any of the five questions listed.

Congregational Meeting: Sunday, February 25

Please join us Sunday, February 25, after worship for a review of 2023, a look ahead to 2024, and time to share a meal together. This is when we approve the terms of call for Pastor Steve and finish the process of electing officers and special committee members.

After the meeting, the deacons are hosting a potluck brunch--deacons and elders will provide hot dishes and the congregation is asked to provide things like pastries, breads, fruit, yogurt, etc.

Lenten Small Groups Forming Now

• Join Steve Sparks and Rev. Katie Haney on Tuesdays at 10:00 AM beginning February 20, for a Lenten small group. Questions? Contact Steve Sparks at [email protected].

• Pastor Jennie will lead a Lenten small group on Wednesdays from 5:30 to 7:00 PM at Thomas Hammer on Grand. We will discuss material from the church devotional as we enjoy a delicious beverage or treat together. Dates: February 21, 28, March 6, 13, 20.

Top of the Hill - 2nd Tuesdays from 11:30-1:00

The Top of the Hill Friends provides a luncheon and program for the retirement age group. The lunch is followed by informative speakers who cover a variety of important topics. Suggested donation to cover lunch is $10, cash or check. To RSVP, sign up on the clipboard at the Information Center in the church entry or call the church office (509-385-0627) by the Sunday before the event.

NEXT PRESENTATION:

• February 13: Stacey Goddard is a Public Services Manager with Spokane County Library District. During her more than 35 years with SCLD, Stacey has worked on adult programming and building partnerships with local agencies to connect community members with the services they need. Stacey will be sharing information about library services beyond the print collection, such as digital resources and the Library of Things (LoT). The LoT includes a variety of non-traditional items available for checkout. 

Senior Fitness Class Begins Next Week

Exercise is More Fun in a Group! Join us for a free 60-minute strength and balance class at 1:00 PM on these Thursdays in February:

Sandy Nolting is trained in senior fitness and will guide you thru the exercises at your pace to keep it safe. Exercises can be modified to do seated or standing. Dress comfortably and bring water. No need to register, just show up for class. Feel free to bring a friend.

Intergenerational Class: Hope Thru Understanding

Continues Through March 17

Join us for an exciting new multi-generational series tackling topics related to Creation Care and climate disruption. We meet Sundays at 10:15 AM in the Skylight Room.

The class will be based on an online curriculum developed by relatives of our church family, Rev. Bob and Anita Dygert-Gearhart, parents of HPPC church member Cindy Brigham-Althoff. Links to study guides and online materials will be provided.

There’s no expertise expected of class attendees, nor is it important that you come to every session. Whenever you can attend, it will start from basic science and Biblical principles, and lead to invigorating discussion.

Wednesday Morning Bible Study: Practices on the Path

Lent is a season that invites us to return to the path of discipleship. During the six weeks of Lent, our Wednesday morning Bible study will explore texts from the gospels of Matthew, Mark, and John to discover the spiritual practices Jesus models for us. We’ll find ourselves drawn to deeper humility, trust, and faithfulness. Our time will encourage us to dive deeper into the scriptures from this year’s church Lenten study guide. Join us Wednesday mornings at 9:30 AM in the Skylight Room starting February 14.

Small Group Forming: Ministering to the Homebound

Have you felt a prompting to participate in ministering to the homebound? If so, a small group is forming facilitated by Betty Rogers to pray for, connect with, and bring community to those in

our congregation who are no longer in a position to physically attend or actively participate in the life of the church. 

If you feel prompted to be part of this small group in any capacity (either to reach out to a homebound individual OR a homebound individual wishing to be connected with someone on the team), please call or text Betty at (509) 230-7967.

Office Volunteers Needed 

Are you interested in helping out in the office on a weekly or as-needed basis? We are looking for a few people who would be willing to:

• Answer the phones for an hour or two at a time
• Help with occasional mailings

Church office hours are Monday-Thursday, 9 AM to 4 PM. We are closed on Fridays. As always, staff will be available for appointments and meetings beyond the posted hours.

JAM (Jesus and Me) Children's Sunday School

J.A.M. Sunday School is right after the Children’s Sermon during worship. Each week, children aged 3 years through 5th grade will gather for Bible lessons. We have fun activities, skits, and wonderful messages planned!

Journey Kids' Club (K-5th Graders)

Journey Kids' Club meets Wednesdays, 5:00 to 7:00pm. We are so excited to spend time playing games, eating food, and learning more about God in this really wonderful time together! A weekly donation of $5 is suggested to help support the cost of dinner. You are encouraged to bring a friend!

Kids' Zone

On Family Worship Sundays throughout the year and every Sunday during the summer, children 3yrs-1st grade are invited to the Skylight Room for fun activities. Kids 2nd grade and up remain in the worship service with their families. 

Youth Ministries (6th-12th Grades)
